Our cardigans are handmade in warm wool, in six colours: purple, orange, orange pink, light blue, green and green blue. And you cannot really choose wrong here. Every single one is woven from a mix of bright patterns, so colourful is what you get either way.

Autumn break, and the best plan is still the simple one: out the door, into the woods, back before dark 🍂

Scarf season is back 🧣

That stretch between summer and a proper winter coat, when a scarf is the only layer you actually need. Ours are handmade and finished in Ecuador: 190 cm of soft alpaca blend, with hollow fibres that hold warmth without the bulk.

Loose over a coat, looped once on a cold morning, knotted when you want it neater. A scarf goes with everything, which is rather the point of one.

The question we get most: how do I wash it?

Short answer, less often than you think. Alpaca has no lanolin and barely holds onto smells, so hanging it by an open window overnight does most of the work. Washing it every month will wear it out faster than using it ever will.

When it does need a wash: cold water, wool programme or by hand, wool detergent, and never wring it out. Lay it flat to dry, away from the radiator and out of direct sun. No tumble dryer, ever.

Treated like that, a handwoven plaid stays on your sofa for years and only gets softer.

Days of work for one blanket. Why bother?

Because there is no machine anywhere in the chain. Our plaids are woven on wooden looms in the Andes, by families who have been doing it for generations, one at a time. It takes days. You can see it in the weave, where no two are ever exactly alike.

That is also why they last. A handwoven alpaca plaid does not thin out and pill after two winters. It gets softer, and it stays on your sofa for years.

Today is Sustainability Day. This is our version of it: made slowly, by people, to be kept.

Choosing between handwoven plaids isn’t easy, because every one is different. These four are the safest places to start.

Light interior? Go for natural and off-white. Warm and earthy? Terracotta and brown. Dark sofa? A light plaid, for the contrast. Not afraid of colour? The bright woven patterns are the most special of all 🤩
