One of my favourite projects, created for clients Jenene Crossan and Scottie Chapman at Piha with The Little Louise’s The Louise’s
The central courtyard garden became the heart of the home—a lush, sheltered retreat from the wind and vast exposure of Piha Beach. Against the drama of the coastline, it offers something quieter and more intimate: a place to settle in, gather and enjoy being surrounded by greenery.
With living spaces opening onto the courtyard, the garden becomes part of everyday life. Planting softens the architecture and brings the outdoors close, creating a sense of enclosure while keeping that connection to the wider landscape.
A garden to retreat to, in a place that takes your breath away.
