ADLT in the Wild | Swanson Road Development

656–680 Swanson Road

A coordinated lighting solution that complements the development’s contemporary streetscape.

Energy UNO luminaires deliver targeted, energy-efficient illumination throughout the site, helping minimise light spill towards neighbouring homes. Photocell nodes provide automatic operation to support efficient energy use.

Denver Elite bollards illuminate pedestrian areas, with their architectural styling and black finish complementing the surrounding metal fencing and handrails.

The project features standard Porchester, custom Porchester and Oxford round-tapered columns. At pedestrian crossings, the custom Porchester columns integrate crossing beacons below the street lighting, combining both functions in one cohesive design.

Thank you to our project partners for their support:

Good outdoor lighting considers its impact on neighbouring properties, road users and the night sky.

Introducing our Standards Made Practical series, starting with AS/NZS 4282 Explained.

AS/NZS 4282 provides criteria for controlling the obtrusive effects of outdoor lighting. Here are four practical considerations:

1. Start with council requirements
Check council rules and consent conditions alongside the applicable AS/NZS 4282 requirements. Confirm the referenced edition and any local provisions that take precedence.

2. Assess light spill at the appropriate location
Vertical illuminance describes light falling on a vertical surface, such as a window. For example, Auckland’s curfew limits at habitable-room windows include 2 lux for lighting category 3 and 4 lux for category 4. Confirm the category using the council’s zoning classifications and adjoining-site rules.

Assessment locations can include windows, boundaries, setbacks or buffers, depending on the applicable requirements. Environmentally sensitive areas require particular consideration. Commercial neighbours without dwellings may not require a window illuminance assessment, but permitted future uses, road-user glare and upward light still need consideration.

3. Check glare for drivers
Driver disability glare is assessed using Threshold Increment (TI), which indicates glare’s effect on visibility.

4. Limit upward light
AS/NZS 4282:2023 uses Upward Light Ratio (ULR). Maximum values include 0.02 (2%) for environmental zone A3 and 0.03 (3%) for A4. Confirm the appropriate zone for the project.

We have many luminaires in our product portfolio that can achieve 0% upward waste light ratio (UWLR) when installed at 0° tilt.

The practical takeaway: check the surrounding context early and assess the complete lighting installation.

Contact ADLT if your project team requires support with lighting design or luminaire selection.

Lighting refurbishment is about more than replacing ageing luminaires. It is an opportunity to reduce energy use, improve light quality and safety, lower maintenance requirements and make better use of existing infrastructure.

This instalment of our SITECO Applications Series takes a broader view, exploring how modern LED refurbishment solutions can benefit industrial facilities, educational environments, roads and public spaces, sports facilities, car parks, tunnels and underpasses.

Depending on the age and configuration of the existing installation, SITECO identifies potential energy savings of up to 80%. Even existing LED systems may offer further savings when higher-efficiency luminaires and intelligent controls are introduced.

A well-planned lighting upgrade can also:

• Eliminate regular lamp replacements and reduce ongoing maintenance requirements

• Improve visibility, comfort and safety

• Lower energy consumption and associated CO₂ emissions

• Minimise disruptive light spill and support dark-sky and environmental objectives

• Deliver a durable, future-ready lighting system

ADLT can help assess your existing installation, develop a compliant lighting design, identify the right SITECO replacement luminaires and controls, and support your project from product selection through to supply.

Lighting in pharmaceutical and chemical facilities must do more than illuminate the task. It needs to support precision, withstand demanding operating conditions and perform reliably around critical production processes.

Across clean rooms, laboratories, production areas and filling plants, uniform, glare-free illumination supports concentrated work and facilitates visual checks, documentation and inspection. Luminaires may also need to resist aggressive substances, moisture and intensive cleaning processes, while long service life and low maintenance help minimise the risk of disruption.

For these specialist indoor environments, Siteco Lighting recommends Monsun, Licross, Highbay and Mira. Silica and Lunis 21 extend the lighting solution into staff and common areas, while SL 31 and FL 21 provide reliable illumination for outdoor areas and car parks.

SITECO Connect Wireless adds intelligent control, using sensors and zone-based management to adjust lighting according to occupancy and available daylight. This ensures light is provided where and when it is needed, helping reduce unnecessary energy consumption and operating costs.

Together with standard-compliant illuminance levels and dependable safety and emergency lighting, these solutions support safer, more efficient and more reliable facilities.

ADLT supplies Siteco Lighting solutions in New Zealand, backed by local lighting design, product selection and technical support.

In logistics, good lighting keeps people, vehicles and goods moving safely and efficiently - from the warehouse aisle to the loading yard.

For warehouse, picking, storage and goods-receiving areas, Siteco Lighting recommends their Highbay and Licross luminaires for clear, uniform illumination across aisles, shelves and traffic routes. Silica and Lunis 21 support comfortable lighting in staff and common areas, while SL 31 and FL 21 extend visibility to outdoor areas and car parks.

SITECO Connect Wireless adds intelligent control, using movement detection to activate lighting in individual storage aisles as required. This helps facilities reduce unnecessary energy use while maintaining the visibility and orientation needed for safe, efficient operations.

Together, these solutions provide a coordinated lighting approach designed around the realities of logistics: glare control for forklift drivers, robust and low-maintenance equipment, and reliable, standards-aligned illumination across the site.

ADLT supplies SITECO lighting solutions in New Zealand and can assist with product selection, lighting design and local technical support for your next logistics project.

Training sessions, competitive matches and events do not all need the same lighting.

SITECO Connect Sports gives sports field operators flexible control over individual floodlights, dimming levels and personalised lighting scenes through the Casambi app.

A field can move from dimmed half-field lighting for training to full-pitch illumination for a match, or even a seven-second lighting effect when a goal is scored - all at the touch of a button.

This flexibility helps facilities use only the light they need, reducing unnecessary energy consumption while simplifying operation and creating a better experience for players and spectators.

ADLT supplies SITECO sports lighting solutions in New Zealand, backed by local lighting design and technical support.

Most outdoor luminaires are installed, commissioned and then largely left alone. SITECO iQ takes a more intelligent approach to managing outdoor lighting throughout its service life.

Auto-Match can reduce the time required to replace electronic control gear from two hours to just two minutes. The replacement component automatically reads the luminaire’s existing settings and configures itself accordingly.

Street-Remote allows luminaire parameters to be adjusted via Bluetooth from the pavement, without requiring a road closure or cherry picker. Desk-Remote also enables luminaires to be configured via RFID through their closed packaging before leaving the warehouse.

Other iQ features include Color-Switch for adjusting light colour, Night Set for automated nighttime dimming profiles and CLO 2.0 for maintaining constant luminous flux throughout the luminaire’s service life without unnecessary energy consumption.

Each iQ luminaire also has its own QR code, providing quick access to relevant luminaire data, settings and instructions.

For New Zealand outdoor lighting projects, ADLT provides Siteco Lighting products alongside the local technical expertise to help asset owners, consultants and wholesalers get the most from the iQ platform.

One of the highlights from Recreation Aotearoa - Te Whai Oranga Green Pavlova 2026 was taking part in the trade prize draw during the conference.

With ADLT proudly headquartered in Mount Maunganui - firmly in Chiefs country - and the event hosted in Hamilton, it felt only right to give away a Chiefs rugby jersey and rugby ball as our prize.

We were thrilled to see the prize won by Steph Loughnan from Waikato District Council - a fantastic result for a proud Waikato local. Congratulations again, Steph!

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the ADLT stand, connected with our team, and helped make Green Pavlova such a great event. We’re already looking forward to the upcoming conferences and industry events still to come in 2026.

Last weekend our Technical Sales Manager Jason Ford took on the challenge of the Hanmer Springs MTB Backyard Ultra - a race where riders complete a 10.5 km loop every hour, on the hour, until only one rider remains.

Each lap includes 173 metres of elevation across some of Hanmer’s best mountain bike trails.

On lap five, Jason suffered a rear tyre blowout. Showing true Resilience - one of ADLT’s STAR values (Service, Trust, Accountability, Resilience) - he pushed his bike 5.5 km back to the start line to make it in time for the next lap, jumping onto his spare bike to keep going.

Jason then completed two more laps, finishing with 70 km ridden over 5.5 hours. An incredible effort.

We’re always proud to support our team in their personal pursuits, and it was great to provide a marquee for Jason’s support crew and an ADLT jersey for race day.

We’re very proud of Jason’s performance over the weekend - and of the same determination and commitment he brings to delivering for our clients every week. 👏
