It's almost hard to believe this is the same space, 6 months apart! One of the first things we did when moved in was have the massive pittosporum tree in the back corner of the yard removed. Not only was it blocking light coming into the house, it took up a huge amount of the small section. Now there's enough room for raised beds, fruit trees and a glasshouse for growing even more plants 🌱
I can't wait to see how this area develops over the summer 🌞

We all know that bigger isn't necessarily better, right? I bought this rug for another area thinking it was much larger (note to self: check measurements before shopping 😅), but it turned out I like it better in the bathroom anyway. And it was only $40 so I'm not complaining (the cutest photo bomber seems to approve too ➡️).

I can't believe it's already been 12 weeks since we moved in! One of the things I'm enjoying most about this house is the amount of sunlight it gets, even in the middle of winter. Our old house was a bungalow which didn’t get much sun during the cooler months, which makes me appreciate this place even more. So here are a few snaps taken today in the glorious sunshine 🌞

We've picked up a few things for the new house recently, so I thought I'd share where everything's from.

We had wool rugs for the living room and bedrooms made from end of roll carpet, and picked up the chairs on clearance which saved heaps of money. Everything else was on sale or very reasonably priced - there are bargains to be had out there if you know where to look!

Just a girl, admiring her new curtains 🐶

One of my biggest interiors pet peeves is miserable 'half mast' curtains, so replacing the ones that came with the house was top of my to-do list when we moved in.

If you're looking for reasonably priced custom-made curtains or blinds, I can't recommend highly enough (not sponsored, just sharing the love). We went for fully lined, reverse pleated curtains in oatmeal Mikonos blockout fabric in the second bedroom and they arrived on our doorstep in just 2 weeks!

When you know, you know... As soon as we walked through the door of our new house, we knew it was meant to be ours. We've always loved old villas, and when we saw the wide hallway, ornate arch, high ceilings and gorgeous hardwood floors we were hooked. And being just across the street from the river and 'green spine' (formerly known as the red zone) sealed the deal!

First look at the new house - she's a gorgeous old 1905 villa and we are in love! 😍 Strategically placed out of shot are the multitude of boxes yet to be unpacked and plethora of houseplants waiting to find a home. I'm looking forward to properly unpacking and hanging some more artwork over the long weekend 🙂

Percy insisted on making an appearance - he's definitely honed his modeling skills recently 🐶
