Tihoi Reception & Office Building
We've been sitting on this one for a while and we're genuinely excited to finally share it with you. This project was for St Paul's Collegiate School. What a pleasure it is to work with a school that genuinely invests in the experience of its students and staff, and it shows in every project we do together.
Designed by Director and Principal Architect Sally Holdgate, this new reception and office building anchors the entry to Tihoi Venture School, giving the campus a clear point of arrival and a natural place for staff to meet visitors as they come in. Two buildings from St Paul’s Hamilton campus, relocated to the site and set on new foundations, are brought together with a new veranda and deck.
Tiered seating to the north creates a lovely outdoor gathering space for students and staff, while the layout quietly respects the privacy of the neighbouring cabins and keeps movement across the site easy and intuitive.
The design takes a contemporary approach to Tihoi’s existing cabin-style architecture, modern, but genuinely still fitting within it's context.
Sustainability is also a focus for the school and sits at the heart of it, with rainwater harvesting for flushing toilets & watering the gardens, and solar on the roof.
Thanks as always to our client, and their consultants, builders, and subcontractors who helped bring it to life.
