Yesterday, the final stage of the Yunca Junior Tour of Southland finished right here at Yunca, and the weather decided to put on a bit of a show.

Despite Friday’s sideways weather, the sun came out for the final stage and what a way to finish. We had the outdoor fires stoked and ready to go, but it turns out we didn’t need them! It was warm, the atmosphere was epic, and the racing was even better.

Sam and the Yunca team were also there at the prize-giving, proudly presenting the awards, congratulating the winners and celebrating all the young cyclists who took on the Tour.

What an event! What a finish! And how good to have it all happening right here in Southland. We absolutely love being part of it.

Huge congratulations to everyone who rode, volunteered and supported along the way. What a Tour!

Yes, we know a thing or two about heat. And yes, we’re proud long-time sponsors of the Yunca Junior Tour of Southland.

Are we saying we had anything to do with Southland coincidentally turning on some particularly chilly Tour weather? Absolutely not; but following the scenes from Stage One... we can appreciate how this may look.

And they’re off! Good luck to all the riders taking on the Yunca Junior Tour of Southland.

As a long-time key sponsor of the Tour, we’re proud to continue supporting an event that brings so much energy to Southland. It’s great to see all the hard work and training come together as riders hit the road for a big few days of racing.

Warning: owning a Yunca may cause teenagers to voluntarily leave their bedrooms, Wi-Fi to become mysteriously less interesting, and dogs to permanently claim the warm spot in front of the fire. You may notice more visitors dropping in, guests staying much longer than planned, and the occasional family debate over who gets the best seat in the house.

Other side effects may include "remember when..." stories making a comeback, three generations gathering in one room, conversations that don't end when dinner does, and, of course... ‘just one more cup of tea’.
