What a week it has been 😮💨
For those of you who didn't know, in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, a fire destroyed our neighbouring store and managed to get into the entrance of Dapper. Although the fire itself didn't manage to get into our shop fully, the amount of damage to our premises and our stock from the smoke, soot and water has been absolutely crushing.
Yesterday, the news broke that the fire was due to arson. A fire is devastating as it is, but finding out that someone purposefully CHOSE to do this- to damage our livelihoods and take away the jobs we use to put food on the table for our family. Words cannot describe the type of pain, anger and immense sadness that comes with a revelation like that.
And top of that, we have found out that we have every type of insurance EXCEPT for business interruption insurance- so trying to figure out how we're going to get by week to week has been the cherry on top of a pretty crappy cake we did not order!
We are currently trying to keep positive, keep cracking jokes to get through, and are constantly trying to figure out what our next step is (there isn't a handbook for this kind of thing).
But, as a small family who have put their blood, sweat, tears, time, money and effort into this little business- we want to say a massive thank you to each and every one of you who have sent through messages, have called and texted, have left comments on our Facebook, and have just had us in your thoughts. We are so blessed to be part of such a beautiful community, and your support has meant the world to us. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts ❤️
As the events of the week have shown, we never know what's going to happen tomorrow or what challenges we're going to face each day. We're taking things day by day and we will keep you, our incredible village, looped in every step of the way.
Love to you all,
Larissa, Gene, Shannon and Georgia from Dapper & Co ###
