Less screen time, more real time. 🤍
Since we started having more gadget-free moments at home, we’ve been finding simple things to do together—reading books, coloring, playing Pokémon cards, eating together, talking, or just sitting and doing our own thing.
Note: we still have TV screen time, but very limited to 2 hrs/day and we chose slow simulation shows. We don’t used tablet or iPads anymore.
Here are 5 gadget-free times we try to practice:
1. Play time — Cards, board games, toys, or whatever they enjoy. For 8 weeks our kids enjoy these cards, puzzles I bought. ROI na talaga!
2. Create time — Drawing, coloring, crafts, or making something. They love coloring - even on our walls lol.
3. Reading time — Even a few pages in the morning, afternoon and bedtime.
4. Mealtime — No screens, just food and conversation. Kaso si Leon, halos maka 100 questions kapag kakain!!
5. Quiet time — Rest, pray, talk, or simply be together.
It’s not always easy, especially with three kids (but the eldest needs her screen time as a teen since most of her assignments requires research). But we’re learning that we don’t have to make big changes all at once.
Sometimes, putting the gadgets away on our little while is enough to make room for something else. ❤️
