Happy Birthday Mama Mary
What kind of values do we hope to leave in the hearts of our children?
Today, September 8, we celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary—Mother Mary’s birthday. 💙🙏
For Evan’s Light, this is more than a celebration. It is an opportunity to reflect on motherhood, family, and the formation of values in the next generation.
Mary's story reminds us that a mother's influence can reach far beyond the home.
Through her life, we see faith, humility, courage, compassion, obedience, and love—values lived, not simply spoken.
And perhaps this is one of the most important lessons for us today:
Children learn values by watching the people who raise them.
Before they understand our lectures, they understand our example.
They watch how we treat others.
How we speak to people.
How we respond when things don't go our way.
Whether we help or ignore.
Whether we show patience or impatience.
Whether we make time to listen.
They learn what respect looks like by experiencing it.
They learn kindness when kindness is shown to them.
They learn compassion when they see us care for others.
Values formation begins long before a child can explain what a value means.
It begins with what they see, hear, feel, and experience every day.
As we honor Mother Mary on her birthday, may we also reflect on our own role in shaping the next generation.
Whether we are parents, grandparents, teachers, mentors, or simply adults in a child's life:
What are we modeling?
What are we passing on?
What kind of person are we helping a child become?
At Evan’s Light, we believe that a brighter future begins with children who grow up with strong values, compassionate hearts, and a sense of responsibility toward others.
And perhaps one of the greatest gifts we can give them is not something we can buy.
It is the example we live.
“The values we hope to see in our children must first be visible in us.”
— Evan’s Light
On this special day, may Mother Mary’s example inspire us to nurture children with faith, love, humility, compassion, courage, and respect.
Happy Birthday, Mother Mary. 💙🙏
May her example continue to illuminate the path for families and for the generations we are entrusted to raise.
