Sakai Kikumori — A Legacy of Sakai Cutlery 🇯🇵

Established in 1926, Kawamura Hamono has been producing professional kitchen knives in Sakai, Osaka, one of Japan’s most historic centers of blade craftsmanship.

The Sakai Kikumori name carries the tradition of Sakai’s centuries-old knife-making culture. Sakai knives are known for their specialized division of craftsmanship, where skilled artisans dedicate themselves to different stages of production—from forging and heat treatment to sharpening and finishing.

Sakai Kikumori offers a wide range of knives, from traditional Japanese carbon-steel blades to modern stainless-steel options. Their collection includes professional wa-bocho, gyuto, petty, and other specialized kitchen knives, made to serve both professional chefs and serious home cooks.

The name “Kikumori” means “guardian of the chrysanthemum.” The chrysanthemum has long been regarded in Japan as a symbol of longevity and nobility, making it a fitting name for a brand built around preserving the traditions of Sakai craftsmanship.

With nearly a century of history, Sakai Kikumori continues to create knives that reflect the skill, precision, and heritage of Sakai.
