Ok peeps. Let’s have a real and frustrating conversation.
Winter is coming — and unfortunately, heating costs are NOT getting any cheaper.
We know nobody wants to hear that. Groceries cost more. Insurance costs more. Utilities cost more. And for a lot of families, the thought of another expensive heating season is just one more thing to worry about.
We see the other side of those heating bills every day. But you don’t always have to just accept a higher heating bill.
A system that’s dirty, struggling, short-cycling, improperly set up, or simply not running as efficiently as it should can use more energy than necessary. Sometimes a relatively small issue can passively cost you money all winter long.
Before the really cold weather hits, a few things can help:
🥶 Change your filter regularly
🥶 Don’t block vents or returns with furniture
🥶 Have your heating system checked before it’s working overtime
🥶 Pay attention to unusual noises, smells, or rooms that suddenly aren’t heating evenly
🥶 If your bill jumps significantly, don’t automatically assume it’s just the utility company
And please don’t feel pressured into replacing a system because it’s getting older. Stop letting other companies tell you that your system is old and needs replacing if it has barely made it out of its first decade of life. Ours is almost 30 years old for perspective. Sometimes replacement makes sense. BUT sometimes
a repair or maintenance is all you need. A good AND HONEST HVAC company SHOULD be willing to tell you the difference.
We are small and local. We live here too. We pay the SAME utility bills, buy the SAME groceries, and understand that homeowners are trying to make smart decisions with their money.
Our goal this winter is simple: keep our neighbors cozy and comfortable without selling them something they don’t need. Just make sure you are choosing the right company for the quality of their work, not the loudness of their advertising.
