First lotus buds of the season 🌸

These started as dormant tubers just a few months ago and are now pushing aerial leaves and flower buds.

I just added the first fertilizer tabs and can’t wait to see the first blooms open.

Growing lotus in Southwest Virginia has quickly become one of my favorite projects this year.

Rain moving through the mountains this morning and the lotus are finally starting to wake up 🌿

The first aerial leaves are starting to rise above the water and the ponds are slowly coming back to life for summer.
