We’ll be pouring some sparkling refreshments (w**e and Dry Wit), answering any of your bulb planting questions, and offering a volume discount of 10% when you purchase 10 or more of any bulb variety. It finally feels like Autumn. Time to let out a deep sigh, start to say goodbye to this hot, dry summer and plan for spring.

Bulbs are in stock including this stunning Fritillaria persica. We have this Purple Dynamite variety as well as Ivory Bells and a table heavy with crocus, daffodil, tulip, snowdrop, and iris bulbs, corms and rhizomes. Most are available bulk so you can pick up 1 or 20!

New books in the shop have us even more excited for this cooler weather! Looking forward to curling up in sweaters, under blankets, with stacks of books.

Two new books illustrated by Julia Sarda are our daughter, Lotte’s, picks. The Witch in the Tower is also written by Sarda and is witchy in the best of ways - full of nature, mysticism and camaraderie.

We have two beautifully illustrated books guiding folks through nature’s rhythms. And Wintering -the book that inspired me to revisit the wheel of the year.

And then bulbs! We have the Kew Garden’s guide to growing bulbs alongside a table heavy with spring bulbs!

With October upon us, the colors, textures, and even our very senses have changed as if to a new rhythm altogether.

From the shifting stages over the garden to the autumnal hues across the plant yard, we are feeling a historic Halloween vibe so much that even the statuary seems more earnest and wary as we near All Hallows Eve.

Come visit us at Horta Culture for all the most beautiful ingredients to set the stage all the way up the front walk to your front door as doing so helps us to savor these dense foggy days even more.

Seed Garlic has arrived and the bulbs are beautiful! Three varieties of premium JUMBO bulbs are here from Driftless Seed Supply 🧄. Hardneck garlic is a favorite crop of mine. Planted in the fall it sets roots now but emerges in the spring producing two crops: tender scapes in the early summer and garlic bulbs later in the summer. Bulbs can be used fresh or cured and stored for use throughout the winter.

These Peach Drift roses just keep on giving with abundant self-cleaning blooms that have been going strong since June. Roses often have the reputation for being fussy, disease ridden and pest magnets. We focus on varieties that are hardy and disease resistant . Any pest pressure we monitor and if needed treat with Arber biological treatments.
