One of the most overlooked details when building a new home is what happens above the garage door.
When planning a garage, most of the attention goes toward the size of the opening and the style of the door. But what happens inside the garage is just as important.
A garage door needs enough clearance to travel from its closed position to fully open.
That means accounting for more than just ceiling height. Support beams, lighting, overhead storage, and even where the opener will be installed can all affect how the track system needs to be configured.
The last thing you want is to finish building your garage only to realize that something overhead is in the way of your door's operation.
That's why planning for the garage door during construction matters. Understanding the available space early allows us to determine the right track configuration, avoid unnecessary modifications, and make sure the entire system fits the building properly.
A little planning during construction can prevent a lot of headaches after it's finished.
