PITTMOSS: 2/3 less watering = efficient water management

Since 2014, our PittMoss products helped to conserve 42.7 million total gallons of water. That’s quite an impressive number, especially if you live in areas challenged by serious drought conditions, like California, Nevada, Arizona as well as other countries around the globe.

PittMoss saves water because its engineered recycled-paper fibers have a unique porous structure that absorbs, holds, and delivers moisture much more efficiently than traditional mixes.

Why PittMoss Excels at Water Savings

•High Porosity and Surface Area: The upcycled paper fibers are engineered with a balanced network of micro- and macropores that trap water internally while keeping air pathways open.

•Superior Retention: It can retain significantly more moisture than standard peat-based mixes, allowing plants to stay hydrated much longer.

•Reduced Watering Frequency: Because it stores and slowly delivers water to the root system as needed, it can reduce overall water usage and increase the time required between waterings.

•Less Run-off: The incredible wettability and absorption rate minimize water pooling and leaching, meaning less resource waste during watering.
