A submittal can contain the right documents and still leave the important question unanswered.

What, exactly, is the team being asked to review?

For builders and general contractors, a useful pool submittal conversation goes beyond forwarding a file. It gives reviewers enough context to make a meaningful decision.

Three questions help:

Equipment: What is being reviewed? Identify the proposed equipment, the relevant requirements, and any questions that need the appropriate design professional's input. A product sheet alone does not explain how a selection relates to the project.

Finishes: Which selection is current? Make the proposed material and finish clear, distinguish it from earlier options, and identify the samples or information needed for review. Do not leave the team comparing different versions of the same decision.

Coordination: Who needs to respond? Explain where the pool scope connects with other trades, which questions remain open, and who owns the next step. An unanswered coordination question should not disappear inside an attachment.

The goal is not more paperwork. It is a clearer review.

Infinity Pools' GC partnerships include schedule integration, trade coordination, and project documentation. Our residential work is delivered through builder and general-contractor partnerships.

A renovation wish list is not a renovation scope.

New finishes. Updated equipment. A different look. All worth discussing—but first, take stock of the facility you already have.

For an HOA, hotel or multifamily community, that means looking at three things together:

• Current conditions: What needs professional assessment, repair or replacement?
• Operating needs: How is the pool used, and what does the team responsible for it need from the space?
• Intended improvements: What should feel, look or function differently when the work is finished?

Those answers help separate essential work from optional upgrades. They also give the design conversation something more useful than a collection of inspiration photos.

A refreshed appearance may be one goal. Equipment modernization, structural repairs or code compliance updates may be part of the discussion, too. The right scope depends on the actual facility—not a standard package.

Infinity Pools offers renovation and modernization services for existing pool facilities. Start with what is there. Then define what comes next.

An open decision is not the same as an agreed plan.

Before the next phase of a pool project, ask:
• Is the scope agreed?
• Are the finishes selected?
• Is the equipment confirmed?
• Who owns each decision?

Give each unresolved item a decision-maker, a next step, and a date for review. The goal is not to force every answer into one meeting. It is to make the unanswered questions visible before field work depends on them.

Builders, developers, and GCs: bring the open questions to the next project meeting.

A spa isn't just the smaller shape beside the pool.

One guest wants room to swim. Another wants a quieter place to pause. A resort's pool and spa can offer different experiences while belonging to one coordinated plan.

Before the layout is settled, consider three things:

• The guest experience: seating, gathering, and movement between the water and the surrounding deck.
• Operations: each body of water has its own needs. Bring the appropriate design and service professionals into the conversation early.
• The handoff: make sure the project team and eventual operator understand the scope and how the amenities work together.

The goal isn't to add a spa because there's space left on the drawing. It's to plan an amenity that makes sense as a whole.

Shotcrete vs. Gunite: Why We Choose Shotcrete for Mountain Regions

The debate is as old as the industry itself, but in cold climates, the choice has real consequences. We exclusively use shotcrete for our projects. Why? It offers a denser, more homogenous shell with higher compressive strength, providing superior resistance to the hydrostatic pressure and ground movement common in the Rockies. It’s a technical choice that ensures long-term durability for our clients’ investments.

In the Mountain West, water is only half the battle. The real challenge for any commercial pool’s longevity is the ground itself.

The freeze-thaw cycle exerts immense pressure on a pool shell, leading to cracks and, eventually, structural failure. It’s a silent threat that can compromise a multi-million dollar investment.

This is why our engineering process for projects in places like Jackson, WY, or Big Sky, MT, always begins with a deep geotechnical analysis.

We believe it’s about understanding soil mechanics as much as water chemistry. We don’t just build pools; we build resilient infrastructure designed to withstand decades of harsh winters.
