DMACC Horticulture

The DMACC Hort Club had the opportunity to Compete at MACHS, (Mid-America Collegiate Horticulture Society), this past weekend! We tested our skills in General Horticulture Knowledge, Woody and Perennial ID, and Plant Judging (and won a few awards while we were at it!).
We also had the opportunity to tour and learn about the operations of several businesses and organizations in the Central Iowa area with our fellow Midwestern Horticulture Students! 🌳💙🐻☀🌷

From our student Horticulture Club:
It's fall plant sale day! We can't wait to see you this evening (Thursday, 9/24) from 3-6 pm on Ankeny campus. Houseplants, a few perennials, trees, shrubs, and of course fall mums and other decorative fall pots are waiting for you. (We may also have some cut flowers for sale fresh from our gardens!)
P.S. We'll be busy prepping after classes, so bring any curiosities and questions to the event instead of on this post. :) In the meantime, enjoy some pics that highlight a few things we'll have at the sale.
See you soon!

If you're interested in prairie harvest, check out these upcoming opportunities to help collect seed with Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation!

Fall prairie seed harvests are right around the corner! These events are among our favorites... it's a peaceful activity that does a lot of good for the landscape AND your soul. INHF relies on these seeds to expand and diversify nearby prairies, improving habitat while ensuring the plants that grow are well suited for the area.

No prior experience required — we'll show you what to collect and teach you about prairie along the way. Several of the events have special components, too 🎶🍻

Bring a friend and enjoy an immersive nature experience that gives back. Link to more details in the comments 👇
