God laid it on my heart to start a little food pantry for neighbors facing food insecurity. No big organization, just love in action. If you would like to help stock the shelves, my Amazon wish list is here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3FT0U26H4Z651?ref_=wl_share. Every single item goes directly to a family in need.

There will come a day when I can no longer hold my grandchildren’s hands, but God will still be holding them.

That thought gives me peace.

I want to be here for every hard day they face. I want to warn them when a road is wrong, catch them when they fall, and remind them who they are when the world tries to tell them otherwise. I want to pray over them, laugh with them, teach them what I have learned, and stand close when life hurts.

But I know I cannot stay here forever.

My love has limits because my life on earth has limits. God’s love does not.

That is why I can place my grandchildren in His hands without fear. Long before I loved them, He knew them. Long after I am gone, He will still know every thought in their minds, every fear in their hearts, and every road beneath their feet.

Jesus said, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20, NIV). I hear those words and remember that His presence does not depend on mine. I may leave this world, but He will not leave them.

I cannot walk beside my grandchildren through every year of their lives. God can.

Psalm 121:8 says, “The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore” (NIV). That promise reaches farther than I ever could. It follows them out the door. It goes with them to work, to school, down lonely roads, through grief, through joy, and into years I will never see.

I also know that God’s care does not mean they will never face pain. I have lived long enough to know better. There will be choices to make. There will be people who hurt them. There will be days when they feel lost.

On those days, I pray they will hear the quiet voice of God calling them toward what is good.

Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God” (NIV). That is the promise I want planted deep in their hearts. When I am no longer here to say, “Don’t be afraid,” God will still be there saying, “I am with you.”

My job is not to control every part of their future. My job is to love them while I am here, pray for them, teach them what is true, and point them toward Jesus.

Then I must trust Him with the rest.

That trust changes the way I think about death. I do not have to leave this life clinging to the people I love as though their safety depends on me. I can go in peace because the One who watched over them while I was here will keep watching when I am gone.

Psalm 68:5 calls God “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows” (NIV). He sees the ones who feel alone. He moves toward those who need care. No empty chair, quiet house, or grave can keep Him from reaching the people I leave behind.

I hope my grandchildren remember my voice. I hope they remember the things I taught them. I hope they remember how much I loved them.

More than all of that, I pray they know the God who will never die, never leave, never grow weak, and never lose sight of them.

That is where my peace comes from.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the grandchildren and loved ones You have placed in my life. While I am here, help me love them well, pray for them, guide them, and point them toward You. When the day comes that I can no longer stand beside them, remind me that You still will. Guard their hearts. Lead their steps. Give them wisdom when they are unsure, strength when they are afraid, and faith when life feels dark. Keep drawing them toward what is good and true. And when my time on earth is done, let me leave in peace, knowing they were always Yours before they were ever mine. Amen.

What would change in my heart if I truly trusted God to care for the people I love, even when I can no longer be there?

There is no bad time to pray, because there is no moment when God stops listening.

I can pray when fear has my heart pounding. I can pray when anger has me saying things I should not say. I can pray when I am so worn out that I do not even know what words to use. I do not have to wait until I feel calm, strong, or full of faith. I can turn to God right where I am.

The Bible tells me, “Pray continually” (1 Thessalonians 5:17, NIV). That means prayer is not just for church, bedtime, or a quiet morning with a cup of coffee. I can pray in the car. I can pray in a waiting room. I can pray while washing dishes. I can pray through tears. I can whisper one sentence when that is all I have left.

When I am scared, prayer turns my mind toward the One who is bigger than what frightens me. Scripture says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you” (Psalm 56:3, NIV). Fear may still knock at the door, but I do not have to face it alone.

When I am angry, prayer gives me a place to bring the heat in my heart before it burns someone else. I can tell God exactly what hurt me. I can ask Him to help me see the truth and choose what is right. “In your anger do not sin” (Ephesians 4:26, NIV). Prayer gives me room to stop before anger starts making my choices for me.

When I am exhausted, I do not have to make a fine speech. God already knows what is in me. Romans 8:26 says, “We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans” (NIV). Even a sigh can become a prayer when I turn my heart toward Him.

I have learned that prayer is not about finding the right mood. It is about staying close to God. Every time I turn toward Him, I open my heart to His help. He can calm what is wild in me, show me what is true, and lead me toward the next right thing.

Jesus said, “Your Father knows what you need before you ask him” (Matthew 6:8, NIV). I pray not because God needs to be told what is happening, but because I need Him in the middle of what is happening.

So I will pray when I wake up thankful. I will pray when bad news comes. I will pray when my patience is gone. I will pray when I cannot sleep. I will pray when life makes sense, and I will pray when nothing makes sense at all.

There is no bad time to pray.

Prayer: Lord, teach me to turn to You in every state of mind and every part of my day. When I am afraid, help me trust You. When I am angry, guard my words and guide my choices. When I am worn out, hold me close when I have no strength left. Keep my heart open to You, and help me remember that I never have to wait for a better moment to pray. Thank You for hearing me wherever I am. In Jesus’ name, amen.

What part of your life do you need to bring to God in prayer today?

Every morning I open my eyes is a gift from God, and one day I will wake to a morning that never fades.

Today may seem like just another day. The sun comes up. I get out of bed. I make my plans, tend to my chores, speak to the people I love, and watch the hours pass. Yet none of it is small. Each new day is another chance to live, love, learn, forgive, serve, and draw closer to God.

That is why I want to begin my day with thanks.

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24 NIV

I do not want to treat life as something I am owed. My next breath is a gift. The people around me are gifts. A meal on the table, a bird outside my window, a kind word, a laugh with someone I love, even the chance to make an old wrong right can become part of what God is giving me today.

And I believe His gift of life does not end when my years on earth are done.

Jesus said, “Because I live, you also will live.” — John 14:19 NIV

Those words change the way I think about every sunrise. God is not leading me toward a dead end. He is leading me toward life. The days I have here are part of a journey that goes on beyond this world.

I picture eternity as an endless series of new mornings with God. Not mornings marked by clocks and calendars, but fresh beginnings. New things to learn. New ways to love. New work worth doing. New joys I have not yet known.

The Bible gives me this picture of God’s mercy: “They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:23 NIV

New every morning.

That is what I want to remember when I wake up tired, when my body aches, when the news troubles me, or when yesterday did not go the way I hoped. God has given me today. I can begin again.

Even growing older cannot take that hope from me. My earthly days may have a number, but the life God gives is not bound by the number of candles on a birthday cake. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” — John 11:25 NIV

So I want to be grateful for this morning without clinging to it in fear. I can love today because I know God has more life ahead.

Perhaps that is one of the great joys of heaven: I will never reach the point where God has nothing more to give. His love cannot run dry. His wisdom has no last page. There will always be more good to receive and more good to share.

For now, I have this day.

I want to use it well.

I want to thank God while the sun is shining. I want to tell my family I love them while I can still speak the words. I want to help someone while my hands can still work. I want to notice the small gifts I once rushed past.

And tomorrow, if God gives me another day here, I will thank Him again.

When my earthly tomorrows are finished, I trust that I will discover they were never the end of tomorrow at all.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me another day of life. Thank You for every breath, every person I love, every lesson, and every chance to do something good. Help me not to waste today worrying about what has passed or fearing what lies ahead. Teach me to see Your gifts while they are right in front of me. When my days on earth are complete, lead me into the life You have prepared, where Your love keeps making all things new. In Jesus’ name, amen.

What would change about the way I live today if I truly saw every new day as the beginning of a life with God that never ends?
