There's something satisfying about a window install in 23 seconds.

Old one out, opening cleaned up and prepped, new one set, sealed, and trimmed — a whole morning's careful work, sped up. What the time lapse doesn't show is the part that matters most: taking the time to get it right while the wall is open, because once it's closed up, that's the work a home lives with for years.

That's the part I love. Doing it right when nobody's watching — then watching the light come through.

Today was windows.

One of the biggest challenges with installing windows is getting the sizes right — and these ones were measured by someone else, and they were not the right size.

That could have stopped the whole day. Instead, I got creative with the solution on the interior, and this was the end result. You would never know anything was off.

Problem solving is one of my strengths. A lot of this work is not just installing what is in front of you. It is figuring out what to do when what is in front of you is not what it was supposed to be, and still leaving the homeowner with something that looks right and feels right in their home.

Today it was just a couple of exterior lights.

Not a big remodel. Not a huge job.

But the homeowner came outside, looked at them, and said, "You just made me so happy. You make people happy. You're amazing."

Then she left a 5-star review on Google.

This is what Wildman Built is about for me. The Way of Wood and Stone. I don't just walk into a home to do a task — I believe the presence you bring into a home matters. It changes the energy of the place.

Sometimes the little things are the difference-makers.

Grateful.

Today's job was a front door refresh.

After a hailstorm and a full siding replacement, the old entry just didn't match the rest of the house anymore.

Out with the old traditional door, in with a clean black modern door that ties in with the shutters and garage door — and lets a little light in, too.

Sometimes it's the front door that finishes the whole project. What a difference.

Wildman Built does a little bit of everything — and I love seeing a house come back together like this.

The Wild Man does a little bit of everything, but this past week was a little different from my usual projects!

The customer had an old greenhouse that was no longer being used, so we decided to give it a whole new life!

We dismantled the greenhouse, had 8-foot leg extensions fabricated, moved the entire structure 15 miles, and spent the past seven days transforming it into an 18’ x 60’ metal building with 14-foot sidewalls!

From an old greenhouse to a fully repurposed building, complete with metal siding, roofing, framed end walls, and doors!

I love projects like this. Taking something that’s outlived its original purpose and turning it into something useful again. A whole lot of work, a little creativity, and another job in the books!

Now it’s off to Bedford to install more windows!

The Wild Man wears a lot of hats.

One week it’s installing windows. The next it’s fixing doors. Then it’s tearing into a bathroom remodel.

This week? Turning a metal carport-style building into a trucking garage.

Different jobs. Different challenges. Same satisfaction in figuring it out and making it happen.

Never a dull week at Wild Man Built.

Recently, a relative reported a rash of rodent robberies, with ravenous rascals wreaking ruin upon his resplendent retail realm.

Responding rapidly, the resourceful Raber repaired the ravaged doorway, reinforcing the realm against returning rodent raiders.

Rodents: Rejected. Realm: Restored. Raber: Reigns.

All joking aside, this little project highlights one of my favorite parts of what I do: problem-solving.

I love walking into a unique situation, figuring out what needs to happen, and coming up with a practical solution.

Years of pallet-jack traffic had taken their toll on this threshold, leaving gaps that some opportunistic rodents decided to take advantage of.

A couple hours of creativity and craftsmanship, and we’ve got a beautiful new threshold that should serve its purpose for years to come, or until the entire door gets replaced.

Sometimes the most satisfying projects aren’t the biggest ones. They’re the ones that challenge you to think outside the box and find a solution that works.
