“From drab to fab! : Transforming your space layout using the Golden Ratio Principle.”🩷⚖️🧘🏽♀️😍
🪑Furniture
If the furniture fills more than 60% of the area of the floor, the room is over-furnished.✨If it’s much lower than 60%,it’s likely to feel unfriendly and minimal.✨Ideally aim for a layout that leaves
40% of the floor clear.
🛋️Living Room
A coffee table should be 2/3 the size of the couch (1/3 for round table).✨Displays on the coffee table should not take more than 40%.✨Pair accent chairs with side tables 1/3 their size.✨Throw pillows should leave 60% of the seating area free.
🍽️Dining Room
Lighting is most evident in the dining room.✨A chandelier should be 1/3 or 2/3 the width of the table and clear enough standing room.✨Stagger pendants across 1/3 or 2/3 the width of the table (multiples of 3’s).
🛏️Bedroom
Center the bed against the largest solid wall as the primary focal point of the room.✨Leave roughly 2.5-3ft of clear, open walking space around the bed and major furniture pieces.✨Scale nightstands and side tables to roughly 1/3 the width or visual weight of your bed.✨Larger dressers or wardrobes should occupy about 2/3 of a wall zone, leaving the remaining 1/3 uncluttered.✨A larger bed frame in a master bedroom aligns better with the 60/40 spatial proportion.
🖼️Artwork & Accessories
Choose a statement piece that covers 1/3 of the wall.✨Hang artwork near the furniture below them than the ceiling above (40% blank wall below, 60% above).✨A statement piece or gallery grouping, should span roughly 2/3 of the width of the headboard or dresser beneath it.✨Offset frames using asymmetrical 2:3 intervals.✨Use a large vase/candle holder and another 2/3 its size, when staging a dresser/buffet/console.
🌈Color Scheming
Employ the 60/30/10 rule:✨60%-walls/large furniture/floors(1-2 main colors).✨30%-Curtains/rugs/small furniture(1-3 non-contrasting colors).✨10%-accent/artwork/accessories(1-2 contrasting colors).
