Time again for our reminder on Freezing pipes:

To prevent:
1. trickle faucet to keep a small flow through cold temps
2. insulate pipe, try to keep pipe on the "warm side of wall" and insulate on cold side.
3. Install heat tape to pipe. Have tape ride along pipe, not spiral around and never overlap.
4. Install heater on low 3 ft away from potentially frozen pipe

To thaw safely, here are a few methods....
(*its not advised to use open flame like a propane torch on frozen piping)

1. Open faucet that is frozen. Then work backwards from faucet to frozen section with hair dryer or heat gun. this will allow any v***r to escape and avoid a pipe burst * never hold heat source on one section of pipe longer than a few seconds*
2. open faucet, Wrap warm towels around frozen pipe every 5 minutes until thawed.
3. open faucet, Put heater 3 ft away from pipe on low until thawed
