ROAD WORK UNDERWAY IN ADAMS TOWNSHIP
Drivers who regularly use Downieville Road or Hammond Road may want to consider alternate routes over the next few days.
Shields Asphalt Paving Inc began milling Downieville Road early Tuesday morning, starting at the Valencia Road intersection. Crews are expected to continue milling toward Ninth Avenue today, with milling operations expected to wrap up around 3 p.m.
According to the project supervisor, crews are scheduled to move to Hammond Road tomorrow.
The Downieville Road paving project will eventually extend from Valencia Road to Three Degree Road. Removing the old road surface is a substantial operation—the supervisor estimated it will take approximately 20 triaxle truckloads, each carrying a little more than 10 tons of milled asphalt.
The work is part of approximately $1 million in summer road improvements approved by the Adams Township supervisors.
