Your floor is only as solid as what's underneath it. Before we install a single board, we spend time on the subfloor, the layer your finished floor sits on, because that's where most problems start.
On Cape Cod, moisture is the main concern. Salt air and seasonal humidity swings cause wood to move. If the subfloor isn't dry and level when the boards go down, the finish floor will show it, sometimes right away and sometimes months later.
We also plan the layout before we cut anything. Where the first row falls, how the boards run through doorways, where transitions meet tile or carpet, all of that gets mapped out on day one. It takes more time at the start. It saves a lot of grief at the end.
If you're planning hardwood installation in Hyannis and want to understand the process before you get a quote, send me a message. I'm happy to explain what we'd look at in your specific home.
