Four seasons. One enduring connection to the land.

In the Rocky Mountains, every season reveals a new perspective. From the renewal of spring and the warmth of summer to autumn’s vibrant colors and the quiet beauty of winter, the landscape is always evolving.

At Hayes House, history wasn’t simply preserved—it became part of the design.

On a compact lot in Aspen’s West End, the original historic cabin was carefully moved to the front of the property and restored, preserving its presence within the neighborhood. Behind it, a distinctly contemporary residence introduces a new chapter—one shaped by modern mountain living.

Between the two, a courtyard becomes the connective heart of the home. More than an outdoor space, it creates a deliberate pause between past and present—a place where the restored cabin and new architecture meet, while each retains its own identity.

The beauty is in that dialogue: historic character against crisp modern forms, intimate scale alongside expansive glass, and architecture from different eras brought into thoughtful conversation. Rather than asking the new to imitate the old, contrast creates continuity.

Hayes House is enduring architecture that respects where a place has been while imagining where it can go next.

Community is part of our legacy. 🤝

The end of the summer gave our team many opportunities to step outside the office and spend time with the people and organizations that make the Roaring Fork Valley such an extraordinary place to call home.

From the golf course to gatherings supporting education, the arts, sustainability, leadership, and community well-being, we’re grateful to show up, participate, and give back to the communities that have supported Z Group for generations.

A look back at where we’ve been lately:

⛳ Aspen One Charity Golf Tournament | Caring for Community and Environmental funds
🍷 Snowmass W**e Festival | Rotary Club of Snowmass Village — Bronze Sponsor
🌱 CORE Green Expo — Business Sponsor
⛳ Paragon Systems Golf Tournament | Aspen Hope Center
📚 Basalt Education Foundation — Annual Bronze Sponsor
🎨 The Art Base Name Unseen pARTy — Silver Sponsor
⛳ Leadership at the Links Golf Tournament | Roaring Fork Leadership — Bar Cart Sponsor
🎈 Snowmass Balloon Festival

Some moments are pictured here; many others happen beyond the camera. Together, they reflect something we believe deeply: being part of a community means being invested in its future.

Thank you to the organizations, volunteers, neighbors, and fellow community partners who continue to make an impact throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.

A home should feel distinctly its own.

At a recently completed Aspen residence, our Interior Design team created spaces around the way our clients live—balancing moments of calm and playfulness, retreat and gathering, and new design with pieces of the home’s history.

A neutral foundation allows the client’s colorful art collection to bring personality to the main living spaces, while the original glass block was thoughtfully reimagined as the backdrop for a built-in bookcase. Throughout the home, each room has its own character while contributing to a cohesive story.

Here, Interior Designer Jessye Ebbinghouse gives us a glimpse behind the scenes before we share the completed spaces.

The full project reveal is coming in October.

There’s a quietness to Dulcinea that comes not from simplicity, but from restraint.

Inside, the architecture allows space, light, and landscape to take the lead. The double-height living room opens upward and outward, drawing daylight deep into the home and bringing the surrounding Aspen landscape into everyday view.

A restrained palette gives each material a clearer presence. Dark steel traces the structure and creates moments of contrast against white walls, while warm wood and soft furnishings bring intimacy to the expansive volume. Above, transparent glass railings preserve long sightlines between floors, allowing the home to feel connected even as spaces serve different purposes.

The result is a home where very little competes for attention. Instead, proportion, material, light, and view work quietly together—creating spaces that feel both expansive and deeply comfortable.

New lift. New shack. Same Aspen stoke. ⛷️🏔️

There’s a lot to get excited about on Aspen Mountain this winter.

Z Group is proud to have designed the new Nell Bell Lift Shack for Aspen Skiing Company employees and Ski Patrol—part of an exciting new chapter taking shape on the mountain.

Alongside the new facility, construction is underway on the Nell Bell lift, a high-speed detachable quad that will replace the Bell Mountain and Little Nell lifts and connect Gondola Plaza directly to the top of Bell Mountain.

For our team, designing for the people who know, work, and care for this mountain every day is especially meaningful. It’s another opportunity to contribute to the evolving story of a place that has inspired Z Group since 1952.

Winter 2026/27 is getting closer—and we can already feel the anticipation. ❄️🚡
