Some people are simply keepers. ❤️
As we begin looking ahead to 2027, we find ourselves preparing for a change at Dunlap Supply that is going to be a particularly difficult one. A so sad for us, but so happy for her moment if you will.
2027 will bring the retirement of our beloved Diane - someone who has been part of the very heart of Dunlaps for nearly thirty years.
In July of 1997, Diane walked through the doors of Dunlaps as an employee - to be a bookkeeper. Married to one of the mill guys (Steve) and a mama of two girls, she worked many hours keeping it all together.
She’s kept the books. She’s kept the records. She’s kept the history and the stories. She’s kept track of the numbers, the little details, and the countless things that most people never even realize need keeping.
But more than anything, she’s helped keep the heart of Dunlaps beating.
She’s kept us straight. She’s kept us laughing. She’s kept us grounded. And through changing times, changing faces, and even changing ownership, she’s kept showing up.
And what a gift that has been.
As we look toward Diane’s retirement in 2027, we find ourselves wondering how you begin preparing to say goodbye to someone who has been such a constant for so long.
The truth is, we don’t think you do. You don’t stop keeping the keepers just because they leave the office.
For nearly thirty years, Diane has given a piece of herself to Dunlaps. And in return, Dunlaps will always keep a piece of her, too.
Thankfully, we aren’t saying goodbye just yet. We still have time for more stories, more laughs, and more days with Diane behind that familiar desk. And we intend to cherish every one of them.
