[BLACK DYNASTY đź–¤]
This is one of those hybrids that keeps getting more interesting every time it puts out a new leaf.
Anthurium Black Dynasty — King of Spades E1 × Tezula BVEP
The goal with this cross was to bring together the dark character and form of King of Spades with the traits we selected from BVEP—and this plant is becoming exactly the kind of breeder we hoped it would become.
That new emergent is already showing a beautiful bronze/copper tone before hardening off against the much darker mature foliage behind it. But for us, this plant is about much more than what it looks like today.
Black Dynasty is being developed as a future breeding parent here at Exotics In ADHD.
Over the next generation of crosses, we’re going to start testing what it can pass forward:
• dark pigmentation
• leaf shape and proportions
• venation
• emergent coloration
• texture
• overall vigor and consistency
This is the part of Anthurium breeding I enjoy the most. A beautiful plant is one thing. Finding out what that plant can produce is an entirely different game.
Some crosses will be made because the traits complement each other perfectly. Others will be experimental—because sometimes the combinations that don’t seem obvious on paper are the ones that produce something completely new.
And we’ll be documenting the process here—from selecting the parents, to pollination, berries, seedlings, selection, and eventually the next generation of breeders.
So here’s the question for the collectors and breeders following us:
If Black Dynasty were sitting in your breeding tent, what would you cross it with?
Drop the plant or genetics below. 👇
I genuinely want to see what combinations everyone comes up with.
