🌱❤️ A Little Hello From The Seed Guy®...

Hello, my gardening friends!

It's been a little quiet around here lately, and I wanted to take a moment to say hello, let you know I'm still here, and share a little of what's been happening in my world.

Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been posting much these past several weeks. Life has a way of reminding us what matters most, and for me, that has meant spending precious time with my sweet mama.

My beautiful mother, who was 94 years young, recently went home to be with the Lord. I had the privilege and blessing of caring for her in my home, right up until the time God called her home. Those final weeks were tender, difficult, and filled with a love that words can scarcely describe.

Losing your mama, no matter how old you are, leaves an empty place in your heart that nobody else can fill. But oh, how grateful I am for the years we had together, the laughter we shared, and the countless memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

And now, little by little, I'm finding my way back into the familiar rhythm of life.

The Seed Guy® has continued to be here, and I've been quietly working behind the scenes, filling orders and taking care of the business I love. I just haven't had much of my usual chatter to share with all of you!

But I'm coming back, my friends! 🌱

There's something wonderfully comforting about gardening, isn't there? The promise of new beginnings, the joy of watching something grow, and the reminder that even after the hardest seasons, life continues to bloom.

I want to thank all of you for being part of this little gardening family we've built over the years. Whether you've been with me since the beginning or just recently found us, please know how much I appreciate you.

I'm looking forward to sharing gardening tips, seed stories, a little laughter, and all the things that make this community so special.

So, here's to friendship, faith, fresh beginnings, and getting our hands back in the dirt!

With love and gratitude,

Linda ❤️

🌱 **SEED PEOPLE ARE A DIFFERENT BREED.** 🌱

You know you’re a seed person when…

😂 You have enough seeds to plant a garden the size of your county… but you’re STILL looking at the seed rack thinking, *“Ooooh… I don’t have that one.”*

😂 You have approximately 47 packets of seeds you *forgot you bought.* (This ties very closely to the first one 😎)

😂 You save empty seed packets because, well… **YOU MIGHT NEED IT SOMEDAY.** (Don't question us.)

😂 You have a perfectly good refrigerator, but somehow the most important real estate in your house is the little spot where you keep your seeds.

😂 You go outside to “check the garden” and three hours later you’re still out there, dirty, sweaty, carrying a tomato in one hand and a w**d in the other, wondering where the afternoon went.

😂 Someone says, *“You don't need any more seeds.” and you immediately know this person cannot be trusted. 😏

😂 You see a volunteer plant pop up somewhere it absolutely should NOT be growing and think, *“Well… let's see what happens.”*

😂 You don't consider dirt under your fingernails a problem. **You consider it proof of a productive day.**

😂 And if somebody gives you seeds as a gift? You don't just say thank you. You **LOVE THEM FOREVER.** ❤️🌱

Yep… we're a special bunch.

But here's the real question:

👇 **What's the ONE thing you do as a gardener that makes your family shake their head and say, “You're a little crazy”?**

Come on… **confess.** 😂

🌱 **We won't judge. We're seed people too.**

🌱 GRANDMA NEVER CALLED IT “FOOD SECURITY.”

She called it putting up beans. She called it saving seed from the best tomatoes for next year. She called it filling Mason jars, stocking the pantry, freezing corn, digging potatoes, hanging onions, and making sure there was enough put away before winter came.

She called it feeding her family.

Somewhere along the way, we found new words for a very old way of life. Today we talk about food security, preparedness, sustainability and self-reliance.

Grandma probably would have smiled at all those fancy words. Because to her, it was simply what you did.

You planted a garden in the spring. You tended it when the sun was hot and the w**ds seemed to grow twice as fast as everything you planted. You picked beans until your back hurt. You carried tomatoes into the kitchen by the basketful.

And when the garden gave you more than you could eat, you didn't waste it—you preserved it.

But there was something else many families preserved, too.

🌱 They saved the seed.

That part matters. Before gardening became something many of us could simply walk into a store and buy every spring, families understood the value of keeping seed from one growing season to the next.

Seeds weren't just something in a packet. They represented next year's garden. And next year's garden represented food on the table.

There was a beautiful independence in that.

You grew something. You harvested it. You preserved the food. You saved the seed. And when spring returned, you began again.

🌱 → 🍅 → 🫙 → 🌱

That's one of the reasons I've always believed so strongly in Non-GMO, open-pollinated heirloom seeds. They connect us to something gardeners have understood for generations: a garden can give you much more than this year's harvest.

Handled properly, it can help provide the beginning of another garden next year.

And maybe that's why this means a little more to me than simply selling seeds.

I grew up on a farm. I remember a time when growing food, preserving food and putting things away weren't trends or hashtags. They were simply part of life.

And I think there are some lessons from those generations that are worth holding onto.

Maybe Grandma didn't call it “food security.” But she certainly understood it.

And perhaps she understood something we're beginning to remember ourselves: There's a certain peace that comes from knowing you can grow some of your own food.

There is satisfaction in seeing shelves lined with food you put up yourself. There is independence in learning how to save seed. And there is something pretty special about passing those skills—and sometimes even those seeds—from one generation to the next.

🌱 AND SPEAKING OF LISTENING TO GARDENERS...

We've been listening to YOU, too!

We recently introduced our new “Remove 10, Replace 10” option on our larger The Seed Guy® Heirloom Seed Packages—and the orders are already coming in! 🎉

You told us you loved the value and variety in our packages, but sometimes there were a few varieties you simply didn't need or couldn't grow where you live. So we did something about it.

Now you can keep the convenience and value of a carefully assembled heirloom seed package while making it more your own.

🌱 REMOVE up to 10 varieties you don't want.

🌱 REPLACE them with up to 10 varieties you do.

No need to build an entire package from scratch. Just take a great package and give it your personal touch.

You asked. We listened. And judging by the orders coming through...it's a HIT! ❤️🌱

That's exactly the kind of relationship I want The Seed Guy® to have with the people who trust us with their gardens.

Because at the end of the day, this business has never just been about putting seeds in a package. It's about helping people put seeds in the ground.

It's about gardens. It's about families. It's about knowledge passed from one generation to another.

And it's about keeping alive a little of what Grandma already knew.

Some Things Are Worth Preserving.

Family. Land. Tradition.

— Linda, The Seed Guy® 🌱

Now I want to hear from you: What did your mother, grandmother—or maybe YOU—always “put up” from the garden every year?

Green beans? Tomatoes? Pickles? Corn? Okra? Salsa? Relish? And did your family save seed for the following year's garden?

Tell me in the comments. I'd love to hear those memories. ❤️

Thank you so much for sharing and supporting small business!!😁🤩

🌱 YOU ASKED. WE LISTENED.

And this is one change I think a LOT of you are going to like.

Over the years, we’ve heard some version of this more than once:

“I love your large Heirloom Seed Packages... but there are a few varieties my family just won’t use.”

Fair enough.

Maybe nobody in your house will touch okra with a ten-foot pole. 😂 Maybe you’ve already got enough zucchini seeds to supply three counties. Or maybe there are simply other varieties you’d rather grow.

So we changed the rules.📋

🌱 Beginning now, when you order one of our 50, 60, 62 or 63 Variety Heirloom Seed Packages, you can swap out up to 10 varieties and choose the replacements YOU want.

Same carefully put-together Heirloom Seed Package from The Seed Guy®.
Same heirloom, open-pollinated seeds.
Now with a little more YOU 😎 in it.

And here’s the part I love most:

This change came from listening to you.🫵

We’re a small family business. We don’t have a boardroom full of people deciding what gardeners ought to want. We have YOU telling us what would make our products better—and when we can make it happen without compromising what we do, we’re going to listen.

In fact... this got me thinking. 🤔

What if The Seed Guy® offered a completely Build-Your-Own 30 Variety Heirloom Seed Package?

Start with an empty package. Choose YOUR 30 varieties from our eligible individual seeds — and get a better price than buying those 30 packets individually.

Would you want one?

👇 So tell me—would YOU build your own 30? YES or NO below! 👇

🌱 Want to see how it works?

Head over to our 62 Variety Heirloom Seed Package and check out the brand-new customization options. You can now choose up to 10 varieties to remove and select the replacements you'd rather grow!

🌱 The Smartest Garden Move You Can Make Right Now (Don’t Wait for January!)

Most people think garden planning starts when the snow melts. But seasoned growers—the ones who always harvest the biggest, healthiest yields—know the truth: the best harvest starts months before your hands ever touch the soil.

If you wait until winter to pick up your seeds, you’re left fighting the crowd for whatever is left on the shelf. The heavy producers, and the true non-GMO staples sell out fast.

Don't get caught empty-handed when spring rolls around. Take control of your food security today, lock in your favorite heirloom varieties before they're gone, and set yourself up for absolute abundance next season.

🌻 The Garden MVP Nobody Talks About (Hint: It’s Not the Tomato)

Forget just planting for pretty bouquets. If you are serious about true food security and self-reliance, the common sunflower (Helianthus annuus) needs a dedicated spot in your garden next year.

This towering beauty isn't just garden decor; it’s a nutritional powerhouse and a resource machine from root to stalk.

Here’s why you should treat them like the homestead staple they are:

🟡 1. A Nutritional Goldmine in Your Backyard

Once those massive heads droop and the birds start eyeing them, it's harvest time. Homegrown sunflower seeds are an incredible source of real nourishment:

Healthy Fats: Packed with Omega-6s for heart health.

Plant-Based Protein: A fantastic, shelf-stable protein source you grew yourself.

Vitamins & Minerals: High in Vitamin E (a major antioxidant), Magnesium, and Selenium.

Don’t rely on store-bought bags coated in mystery ingredients. Harvest your own and roast them for a salty, nutrient-dense snack that’s pure satisfaction.

🍂 2. The Post-Harvest Payoff: Don't Waste the Stalks!

Most people chop them down and throw them in the trash after the first frost. STOP. That’s valuable biomass.

Carbon Powerhouse: Those tough, thick stalks are loaded with carbon. They are the perfect foundation for your "lasagna" compost pile, helping create rich, black gold for next spring's seedlings.

Natural Kindling: Once dried completely, the lighter, hollow inner pith of the stalk can be excellent, free fire-starter material.

The Takeaway: True food sovereignty means looking at every plant as a multi-use resource. Sunflowers feed your body, feed your soil, and even help you start your winter fires.

Ready to turn your backyard into a sustainable fortress? Grow the whole plant, not just the fruit.

👇 What heirloom sunflower varieties are, or did, you growing in your garden this year? Let us know below! 👇

🥊 IN THIS CORNER: THE TASTE REVOLUTION! 🍅💥🥊

Let’s step into the ring for the ultimate culinary showdown!

We’ve all had that fateful day at the supermarket. You buy a plastic-wrapped tomato that looks like a shiny red billiard ball, only to slice into it and discover it tastes like wet cardboard and broken dreams. 🤦‍♂️📦

Then, you plant your very first heirloom seed.

You wait. You water. You pick that warm, sun-ripened beauty straight off the vine, take one bite, and your tastebuds experience an absolute explosion of real, old-fashioned flavor. That single bite changes your life forever.

Confession time, garden family:

What was the VERY FIRST heirloom vegetable you ever grew and tasted that made your eyes light up and made you declare: "I am NEVER buying grocery store produce again!"?

🍅 A warm, rich Rutgers or Brandywine tomato right off the vine?

🥒 A sweet, crisp heirloom cucumber with zero bitterness?

🌽 Sweet corn roasted 10 minutes after being picked?

🫑 A thick-walled bell pepper that actually has sweetness and crunch?

Drop your "flavor awakening" memory in the comments below! Tell us the variety and the year you officially broke up with the supermarket produce aisle! 👇🤠🌱

⚔️🌱 THE GREAT HOMESTEAD W**D BATTLE IS ON! CHOOSE YOUR ADVERSARY!

Well, Facebook family… we may have created a monster. 😂

Yesterday my new little gardening partner was handing out blue ribbons at the Garden Hall of Shame.

Today he showed up carrying a sickle.

Apparently he's promoted himself to Head of Homestead Security, and nobody bothered to run that decision past me. 🤦‍♀️😂

So grab your gloves and your favorite weapon of w**d destruction because the little guy has declared WAR on the villains trying to hijack our beautiful heirloom beds.

You know the ones. They show up uninvited, drink all the water, steal all the nutrients, and then have the audacity to grow twice as fast as everything you actually planted.

And heaven help the w**d that gets between this fellow and a perfect row of Black Seeded Simpson Lettuce. 😂

So we're playing a little game of high-stakes magical gardening today:

If you could snap your fingers and permanently BANISH one w**d from your homestead forever, which one gets the boot?

🦁 THE DANDELION MONSTER: That innocent-looking yellow face attached to a taproot apparently connected directly to the center of the Earth. You dig for 10 minutes, hear that little snap... and know you'll be seeing him again next Tuesday.

🦀 THE CRABGRASS WARRIOR: The creeping, crawling ground invader that forms an impenetrable mat while quietly plotting the demise of every tender seedling nearby.

🦑 THE BINDW**D TENTACLES: The sneaky twisting vine that climbs your trellises, wraps itself around your plants, and apparently considers your pole beans its personal jungle gym.

OR… did we leave out YOUR arch-nemesis?

Which one is getting the sickle? Drop its name in the comments and tell us WHY it has earned permanent banishment from your homestead! 👇😂

And don't worry—this is still a judgment-free zone.

Although judging by that sickle, I'm beginning to have some concerns about my new employee. 🤔🤣

Let's hear it, garden warriors! 🤠🌱⚔️
