CBU mailbox maintenance ✅📬 
 
I might not sound excited but the tenants will be, with 4 more parcel lockers! 
 
This cluster mailbox needed quite a bit of attention. We installed 4 missing parcel locker doors, completed 5 rekeys, repaired mail doors that weren’t closing properly, and replaced several missing components. 
 
Repair work coordinated with USPS 🤝. Because access to the main cabinet of the mailbox is controlled by the Postal Service, a USPS associate met me on site and unlocked the unit so I could complete the necessary repairs.

The previous mailbox was completely destroyed, we installed a brand new replacement. Instead of making each resident deal with new keys, we transferred all of the existing locks from the damaged mailbox into the new one. 
 
Same locks. Same keys. Brand new mailbox. 
 
Small detail but it makes the replacement process much easier for everyone who uses the mailbox, no new keys to distribute and no need to update key records. 
 
The new installation turned out great and is ready to get back to work.

We installed a dVault Full Service Vault, a heavy-duty column mailbox designed to securely receive both everyday mail and package deliveries.

The upper compartment receives everyday letter mail just like a traditional mailbox. The lower parcel compartment accepts packages up to 16.9″ W × 9.25″ H × 12″ D, helping keep deliveries secure and out of sight when you’re away from home.

In this video, I show you step-by-step how to replace a mail door lock on a CBU mailbox when the keys are lost or the lock simply needs to be replaced.

One detail worth considering when purchasing a new mailbox is how you’ll retrieve your mail.

These mailboxes feature both a locking front door and a locking rear access door. Rear access can be especially useful along busier roads because it allows you to retrieve your mail while staying out of traffic and maintaining better sightlines for approaching vehicles.

Rear access isn’t necessary for every installation, but it’s an important feature to consider for your property. Mailboxes are available with front access, rear access, or both front and rear access like these. Your mail carrier still delivers mail from the front, you have options for retrieval.

These mailboxes also come standard with laser cut house numbers on both sides. Because these two boxes sit next to each other on a shared post, we removed the house numbers from the inside facing sides for a cleaner finished appearance.

This new construction includes a primary home and an ADU, and each mailbox was selected to match the front door of its respective home. A small detail that helps tie the entire property together.

Wall mount mailbox installation complete 📬 
 
The code for the existing mailbox had been forgotten so replacement was necessary. But the old mailbox was also undersized for this multi-bedroom rental property, creating a great opportunity to upgrade to a high quality locking mailbox with more mail capacity. 
 
As part of the installation, we provided the property manager with the serial number for the mailbox keys. If a key is ever lost, they can order a replacement directly from the manufacturer, no need to call us or hire a locksmith.

Maybe this isn’t the best business model… because we’re trying to make sure you don’t need to call us again. 😂

When we install locking mailboxes for property managers, we document the serial number for each mailbox key and provide that information to the customer.

Why does that matter? If a tenant loses a key or an extra key is needed, the property manager can use the key serial number to order a replacement directly from the manufacturer, no locksmith, no lock replacement, and no service call from us.

Mailbox installation complete 📬

I removed the existing mailbox post and surface-mounted a new heavy-duty mailbox post, followed by a Mail Boss Mail Manager locking mailbox.

There was quite a bit of moss built up around the base of the old post, so I also took the time to remove it and clean up the surrounding sidewalk before wrapping up the installation.
