Meet Walker. 🐾

Walker doesn’t know what kind of week it’s been. Walker just knows how to show up: greeting everyone like they’re a favorite person, noticing when someone’s having a hard day and sitting a little closer. No grudges and always time for the people nearby.

Our community has had a heavy week, and we think Walker has the right idea.

A soft touch of color, a whole lot of style! 🩵

This walk-in shower is proof that sometimes the tile is the star of the show. The soft, sea-glass blue tile adds beautiful texture and a calming feel, while the brushed brass fixtures bring just the right amount of warmth.

We especially love how the tile wraps around the window, creating a seamless look that makes this shower feel like a little spa retreat.

It's difficult to find the right words in the wake of such an unimaginable tragedy.

Like so many in our Central Oregon community, the Sierra James Construction family has been deeply affected by the heartbreaking events at Silver Rail Elementary.

Our hearts are with the families who are grieving, the children and educators whose lives have been forever changed, and everyone struggling to make sense of what happened.

We know that words cannot ease this kind of pain. But we hope those affected know they are surrounded by a community that cares deeply.

From all of us at Sierra James Construction, we are holding the entire Silver Rail community in our hearts.

27 UNITS OF BLOOD! 🩸❤️ WE DID IT!

Yesterday, Sierra James Construction hosted an American Red Cross Blood Drive, and we're thrilled to share that we met our goal of collecting 27 units of blood! 🎉

A HUGE thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves to donate, including our amazing Sierra James employees and members of our Central Oregon community who came out to support the cause!

With the current blood shortage, every donation matters, and we're proud to have played a small part in helping meet such an important need.

At Sierra James, taking care of our community is at the heart of what we do. Whether we're helping families rebuild after a disaster, creating homes that better meet their needs, or coming together to give the gift of life, we believe in showing up for our neighbors.

What a great turnout at the Bend Chamber's ADU Fair!

We loved seeing so many community members and industry professionals come together to learn, share ideas, and ask questions about Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) in Central Oregon!

Sierra James Construction's on-staff architect, Ian Burgess, joined Jackie Haddon of LiveAble Homes and Tom Bennett from Simplicity by Hayden Homes for an informative panel discussion moderated by Kerry Bell, Middle Income Housing Coordinator for the City of Bend.

The conversation covered everything from the City of Bend's Pre-Approved Plan Program and navigating the ADU design and construction process to common misconceptions about ADUs and their importance in creating more housing options. The panel also highlighted why accessibility and Universal Design should be considered from the start, regardless of age or ability, helping create homes that can adapt to changing needs over time.

A big thank-you to the Bend Chamber for organizing such a valuable event! We were proud to be part of the conversation and help connect our community with the people and resources that can make their ADU goals a reality.

Okay, it may be 80 degrees outside right now, but nighttime temps in Central Oregon are about to start dipping down to that freezing point on a regular basis.

A few quick to-dos before the cold settles in:

☑ Disconnect garden hoses and cover your hose bibs
☑ Shut off and drain sprinkler and irrigation lines
☑ Insulate exposed pipes in crawl spaces, garages, and attics
☑ Know where your main water shutoff is (and make sure it turns!)

Happy World Architecture Day! 🏡📐

Today, we’re celebrating Sierra James Construction’s on-staff architect, Ian Burgess, and the huge role he plays in helping turn ideas, needs, and sometimes even difficult circumstances into thoughtful spaces.

Ian’s work often starts with simply listening. He joins clients for site walks to understand what’s feasible, learns how they want their space to function, and creates designs that bring those needs to life.

From custom homes and ADUs to additions, accessible design, major structural remodels, and rebuilding homes after devastating fire losses, Ian’s architectural expertise is an incredible asset to our clients and our entire Sierra James team.

This year’s World Architecture Day theme, “Housing is a Human Right. Build It.”, feels especially fitting. Earlier this year, Ian designed four new plans for the City of Bend’s Pre-Approved Plan Program, helping make thoughtfully designed housing plans more accessible to our community while simplifying part of the path toward building them.

We’re proud to have Ian on our team, and today is a pretty perfect day to celebrate the creativity, problem-solving, and purpose he brings to every project.

We’re excited to be part of the Bend Chamber’s ADU Fair: From Ideas to Action! 🏡

Sierra James Construction’s on-staff architect, Ian Burgess, will be joining a panel of local experts for a Q&A all about ADUs—from what’s changing to what homeowners should consider when planning one of their own.

We’re also excited to see LiveAble Homes on the panel! As the accessibility specialists we partnered with, they’ll bring an important perspective on why it’s worth considering accessibility and Universal Design from the very beginning when designing an ADU.

After the panel, stick around for the ADU Resource Fair, where Sierra James Construction and other local builders, designers, lenders, housing organizations, and community resources involved in the ADU world will be available to answer questions and help homeowners explore their options.
