There's always one room that's been bugging you for years.

The kitchen that's too tight, the bathroom stuck in another decade, or the entry where everyone's shoes pile up. What's yours, and what would you change about it?

Planning a remodel?

Settle demo, plumbing, and electrical first.

Before the walls come down:

- Demo: confirm what's coming out, and plan for what may be hidden behind the walls.
- Plumbing: decide fixture locations early. Moving drains and supply lines affects cost and schedule.
- Electrical: plan outlets, lighting, and appliance loads now. Your panel may need an upgrade.

Lock your layouts before rough-in. At Three Peaks Design-Build, great construction starts with great planning, communication, and craftsmanship.

What’s under your floor matters more than what goes on top. 🪵🔨

On this log cabin, we found MDF stapled down over the original plank decking, so we pulled it all up. MDF doesn’t hold flooring nails well over time and it doesn’t handle moisture. Most hardwood manufacturers don’t approve MDF or particleboard-type panels for nail-down installs.

So we’re doing it right. The crew is planing and prepping the original decking until it’s flat and solid. Then a new tongue-and-groove subfloor goes on top, giving the engineered hardwood real nail-holding power and a stable base.

It’s the step nobody sees in the finished photos, and it’s the one that decides whether a floor squeaks, gaps, or lasts.

"I don't even know what I want yet."

We hear this all the time, and it's a great place to start. Bring a few photos you like, or even just what bugs you about your current space. The finish decisions come later, step by step, as part of the plan.

Ever wonder what "design-build" actually means for your remodel?

It means one team is responsible for your project from the first sketch to the final walkthrough. At Three Peaks, the people designing your space work alongside the people who will build it, so questions about cost, materials, and construction get worked out while the plan is still on paper.

It also means fewer handoffs. Before any selection reaches the job site, we cross-check it against your contract and design plan, so the tile, fixtures, and finishes that show up are the ones you chose.

Great construction starts with great planning, clear communication, and careful craftsmanship. That's the work behind the work.

Before the drywall goes up, every wire in the house is out in the open.

On a remodel in Bend, electrical rough-in is now complete. Boxes are set at each planned location, and cable runs through the open framing to every future switch, outlet, and fixture, including around the home's log walls and windows.

For homeowners, this is a great moment to walk the space. Stand where you'll actually use each room and check that switches and outlets land where you need them. Moving a box now is simple. Moving it after drywall and paint means cutting into finished walls.
