Morning light comes through the tall window and hits the white farm sink first, just like it always has. The oak cabinets still close with that soft, solid thud, their copper pulls worn smooth by many hands.

There's a floral tile border that someone hand-painted, one yellow bloom at a time. In the corner, the built-in nook waits. A bowl of apples, a lit candle, a book left open face-down. No one ever sits there alone for long. Someone always pulls out the other chair.

The Craftsman exterior is all about honesty — no fake details, just real materials doing real work.

Look at the roof: low-pitched, cedar shake shingles with beautiful weathering, wide overhanging eaves that protect the porch and show the structure. The walls are clad entirely in shingles too, a hallmark of the Craftsman Shingle style that blends the house into the landscape.

The porch tells you everything. Two massive tapered box columns resting on river-rock piers — stone anchoring wood, nature anchoring home. The deep porch is an outdoor room, with a built-in bench, warm lantern sconces, and a green Craftsman door.

Every color is earthy and intentional — mossy green trim, natural stone, wood stain. Even the garden is part of the architecture: flagstone path, stacked stone retaining walls, window boxes with trailing flowers, hydrangeas and ferns softening the foundation.

The beauty is in the craftsmanship itself — exposed joinery, natural textures, and a house that looks like it grew right out of the ground it sits on.

Take a look at this lovely historic beauty. The classic Craftsman lines never get old! Drop a comment if you love this style too.

Everything you see here is intentional. The low-pitched gable roof with deep, overhanging eaves and exposed decorative brackets. The full-width front porch held up by square, tapered columns — designed as an outdoor room, not just an entry.

A house designed to be honest, affordable, and connected to nature — small enough to be efficient, beautiful enough to be remembered 100 years later. This one gets every detail right.

If you want to understand a Craftsman home, start in the entryway. It was never meant to be a hallway you rush through.

A ceiling with coffered dark ceiling. The walls are half-paneled in quarter-sawn oak wainscoting, durable enough for daily life. Built right into that paneling is function: a row of copper coat hooks, a built-in bench with storage baskets underneath, an umbrella stand. Nothing is freestanding that doesn't need to be.

And then, the light. The Tree stained glass window — a signature Craftsman motif — does two jobs. It gives you privacy from the street, and it paints the parquet floor with color every afternoon. The front door has matching art glass so visitors are greeted with light before they even step inside.

The staircase is solid, square, no curves — thick box newels and simple slat balusters. It's anchored, honest, built to last 100 years. Which it has.

Craftsman entryways were designed to slow you down. Take off your coat. Sit. Belong.

Fall foliage, stacked firewood, and timeless Craftsman architecture. Would you spend your crisp autumn weekends here?

The big window was never just a window — it's a forest made of glass. Three panels across the top, trees and hills and little amber clouds, all leaded by hand. When the afternoon sun hits it, the whole room throws color onto the oak floors.

The furniture is low and honest, just like a Craftsman should be — quarter-sawn oak, wide arms, cushions that have learned the shape of the people who sit in them. The built-ins are full of pottery, not because someone styled them, but because someone collected them, one piece at a time.

This home doesn't need a view. It is the view.

What is a bungalow? The word comes from the Bengali bangala - small one-story houses built for British officers in India in the 18th century. In the US it was redefined as: a one or one-and-a-half story house of simple design.

If it's two full stories, it's no longer technically a bungalow, though it can still be Arts and Crafts or Craftsman.

Important distinction: Bungalow = how many floors. Craftsman = the design philosophy. A bungalow can be Craftsman, Tudor, Spanish, Mission, Prairie, or Chicago Brick. The most popular overlap was the Craftsman Bungalow, which is what most people picture today.
