Our clients in Forest Hills, DC, wanted to transform their long living room into a space that felt both cozy for family gatherings and sophisticated for entertaining friends.
We created two distinct areas: a family space with a large sectional that reclines in multiple places (!!) and a more intimate cocktail area with a curved sofa, armchair, and (another!) recliner to encourage conversation and the occasional nap, too.
I incorporated curved furnishings to soften the transitions between the two areas, dentil crown molding and a limewash finish on the walls for texture and warmth, and sculptural lighting and beautiful shades of aubergine for a little fun.
We also widened the opening to the screened porch and added sliding glass doors to create a better connection to the outdoors.
This was such a fun project for me because it involved a lot of space planning and architectural details, in addition to the furnishings and finishes. And the best part? Our clients feel the room really reflects their style and how they want to live. š„°šš
