Construction is underway at Southern Pines Hyundai!

Exciting progress is taking shape on the new 25,000 SF sales and service facility for Phil Smith Automotive. With footings being formed and concrete being poured, the foundation is being laid for what will become a modern, full-service Hyundai dealership.

The new one-story facility will include a showroom and sales offices, customer lounge and waiting areas, service drive, parts department, and service operations all designed to meet Hyundai’s current image and branding standards.

These aerial views give a great perspective on the progress happening across the site. We’re excited to watch the project continue to take shape!

Good food, great company, and plenty of fun!

We had such a wonderful time at our annual PDG Family BBQ, hosted by our owner, Jon Penney and his amazing family. It’s always a treat to get together outside the office and spend time with our team and their families.

A big thank you to Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company for keeping everyone well fed, and the bounce house was definitely a hit with our youngest guests!

We’re already looking forward to next year!

We’re proud to see Select Auto Import’s recognition with an Award of Excellence from ABC Metro Washington & Virginia!

Penney Design Group designed this 17,500 SF sales and service facility in Alexandria, VA to meet the needs of a luxury automotive brand, with state-of-the-art service bays, elegant sales offices, and a premium customer experience throughout.

The project presented a unique set of challenges, including a zero-lot-line site, adjacent rail infrastructure, existing utility conflicts, and the need to keep business operations moving throughout construction. The design also revitalized a previously developed urban site, making the most of the existing infrastructure and every square foot available.

This recognition is a great example of what can be accomplished through thoughtful design, creative problem-solving, and close collaboration.

Congratulations to Chesapeake Contracting Group, Select Auto Imports, and the entire project team on this well-deserved recognition. We’re proud to have been part of bringing this project to life!

We’ve been busy at PDG welcoming industry partners into the office for presentations and continuing education opportunities.

Recently, Federated Lighting joined us along with Vode Lighting to introduce our team to Vode’s architectural lighting solutions.

We also welcomed Williams-Sonoma, Inc. Business to Business for a look at their contract furniture offerings. Their B2B program provides access to contract-grade products, custom solutions, and resources across the Williams-Sonoma, Inc. family of brands.

And most recently, our team participated in a Marino\WARE Lunch & Learn: Dynamic and Static Head-of-Wall Joint Fire Protection. The AIA-accredited course explored head-of-wall assemblies, UL requirements, fire and smoke ratings, deflection, and considerations for specifying dynamic and static joints.

From lighting and furniture to the technical details behind safe, high-performing buildings, these presentations help our team stay informed about the products, technologies, and solutions available for our projects.
