It all began in 1955 when our company’s namesake, a rugged, avid fisherman named Bill McGuckin, opened the doors of McGuckin Hardware. Employing four people in four departments, his success was based on his belief in personalized service, selection and first-hand experience. In 1960, Dave Hight became a partner in McGuckin Hardware with his father-in-law, Bill. Together they sought to create a quality hardware store with a reputation for excellent service and selection. Working from this solid base, Dave has carried on McGuckin Hardware’s dedication to service since Bill’s death in 1966. Staying within a block of its original location in Boulder, McGuckin Hardware has continued to grow. We currently employ around an average of 250 people in 18 different departments ranging from Garden to Housewares to Automotive – just to name a few. With all of the growth, McGuckin Hardware continues to strive to meet Bill’s goals of providing personalized service, selection, and first-hand experience.

Today, October 13th, 2026, we will be bringing awareness to metastatic breast cancer by encouraging our employees and YOU to wear pink when coming into McGuckin's! 🩷🎗

Metastatic breast cancer — also called stage IV breast cancer — is breast cancer that has spread to another part of the body, most commonly the bones, lungs, brain, or liver.
The process of cancer spreading is called metastasis. Metastasis happens when cancer cells break away from the original tumor in the breast and travel to other parts of the body. These cancer cells travel through the bloodstream or the lymphatic system (breastcancer.org).

October 13th is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness, we want you to show support with us by wearing pink. Please feel free to take pictures around the store and share with a Green Vest or tag us on social media.
This is a day to bring awareness and show support for everyone who has been affected by breast cancer.

Metastatic breast cancer, also called stage IV breast cancer, is breast cancer that has spread to another part of the body, most commonly the bones, lungs, brain, or liver. Breast cancer can come back in another part of the body months or years after the original diagnosis and treatment. This is called metastatic recurrence or distant recurrence. Nearly 30% of women diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer develop metastatic disease (Breastcancer.org)
