Completed in 2025, the transformation celebrates the motel's history through thoughtful restoration and contemporary improvements, bringing new life to one of Denver's iconic roadside properties.

From the Classroom to the Studio to the Job Site! 🏡📐

We welcomed Maseio, a senior at Horizon High School, to our Boulder studio for a firsthand look at the world of architecture. With an interest in architecture, He reached out to our team as part of a job shadowing program to learn more about the profession and what a day at an architecture firm looks like.

Maseio spent the morning meeting our team, sitting in on project discussions, and learning about the design process before joining us for a special site visit to Lake Shore, one of our residential projects currently taking shape in Boulder County.

Our team had the opportunity to walk through the home, explore the latest construction progress, and enjoy lunch together while sharing insights into how architectural designs come to life.

Days like these remind us how rewarding it is to share our work, collaborate as a team, and encourage the next generation of architects and designers.

A big thank you to Maseio for reaching out and spending the day with us, and to everyone who helped make the experience a success!

Highland Haven | Boulder, Colorado

Originally built in 1904, this American Foursquare in Boulder’s Mapleton Hill Historic District was thoughtfully renovated to preserve its historic character while creating a home designed for modern living.

The project included a new rear porch for outdoor living, along with a complete interior renovation of the existing home. Through a historic review process, the design carefully balances old and new while respecting the character of the original architecture.

Projects like Highland Haven are made possible through close collaboration between homeowners, architects and builders. Working alongside a talented project team, thoughtful design and skilled craftsmanship come together throughout the home, from the detailed millwork and custom interiors to the integration of new spaces within the historic structure.

The result is a home that feels both timeless and current, preserving what makes it special while allowing it to evolve for the way its owners live today.

As the seasons begin to change, fireplaces and fire features become natural gathering points, bringing warmth and character to spaces indoors and out.

From residential interiors to shared amenity spaces and outdoor gathering areas, each offers a different approach to integrating warmth into the architecture.

The experience of home begins at the entry.

An entryway does more than mark the front door. It creates a transition between public and private, establishes a sense of scale, and offers the first introduction to the materials and character of a home.

From sheltered porches and framed courtyards to warm wood, stone, glass, and carefully integrated landscaping, these residential entries each create their own sense of arrival.

A look at a few of the ways we’ve approached the front door across our residential work.
