Design Debate! Do you prefer brick or stone?

The materials we choose for our homes help define its character.

Brick = order and refinement. Its repetition creates rhythm and pairs perfectly with traditional, classic, and transitional architecture.

Stone = organic and collected. Its natural variation adds depth, texture, and visual movement, connecting it to its surroundings.

Both materials are truly timeless while conveying very different messages. Which one tells the story of your home?

We’re not designing for a pretty photo - function ALWAYS comes first. But might as well make it look really good while we’re at it 😏

This guest room bath has all the right function with extra style and class.

There’s something special about a kitchen that feels both elevated and completely at home.

Warm wood cabinetry, soft veining, sculptural lighting, and those dramatic windows come together to create a space that feels refined without feeling untouchable. Every detail was considered to let the natural materials — and all that beautiful light — do the talking.

A kitchen designed for gathering, cooking, and living beautifully.

An outdoor space shouldn’t be designed for one season. A spot like this makes for the perfect segue from soaking in sunsets as the heat of the day lingers to embracing the warmth from the fire as the nights grow cooler.

One of the biggest hesitations I hear when it comes to hiring an interior designer is the cost.

It’s easy to think, “I can save money by skipping the designer and putting that budget toward something else.”

But here’s the thing: sometimes what you save upfront can cost you more in the long run.

The furniture you ordered is suddenly backordered. The wallpaper you fell in love with doesn’t look quite right once it’s on the wall. You’ve rearranged the furniture three times—and still can’t get the layout to feel right.

These are the headaches that can turn an exciting project into a stressful one.
And these are exactly the things your interior designer is there to take off your plate.
From sourcing and coordinating to problem-solving and making sure all the pieces work together, your designer is managing the details, anticipating the challenges, and keeping the vision on track.

So by all means, SAVE.
Save yourself the stress.
Save yourself the costly mistakes.
Save yourself the time and frustration of figuring it all out on your own.

Sometimes the best investment you can make in your project is knowing when to bring in an expert.

What kind of first impression is your room giving guests? Read the room! Take a step back and try the doorway test.

Stand at the doorway of your room and notice:

🔹What catches your eye first?
🔹Does the space feel balanced?
🔹Is there a natural focal point?
🔹Does anything feel distracting or out of place?

Taking a step back might be all it takes to tell you what’s working in your space, and what isn’t.

Speaking of what IS working…how about this powder room?

Who else has inherited some dishes from grandma? 🙋

It’s easy to let pieces like this sit around, stowed away in the attic or inside of a cabinet. Maybe they feel old or outdated, maybe they seem a little too tarnished, or maybe it feels like they might clash with the rest of your style.

Hear us out! Pieces like these beg to be displayed. Their age adds dimension to the newness of the rest of your room design, their patina tells a story, and both most of the time can act as a neutral, complementing just about any design with warmth and depth if done right. So pull out those bowls and trays and let them continue to be enjoyed for generations to come - they have experience in making a house a home.

Can’t you just see it?

A space to gather with friends, to cook dinner with family, a space to binge the latest series with your spouse, a space to read stories to your kids, a space to snooze on a Sunday afternoon. A space to settle in 😌

This space may not look like home yet but when this family moves their belongings in, we know it will quickly become the most gathered space in the home.

If it’s trendy - it may look good for a while, and it may get you a couple of compliments for a bit. But if it has character - if it’s unlike anything others have seen, if it shows them a part of who you are the moment they step inside, and if it has a depth to it that can’t be replicated…that is when you know you’ve succeeded at honing your style. Character wins every time.

There’s something sweet about designing a room for sisters - to know the laughs, the late night chats, the closet raids, and the heart-to-hearts to be had in that space. A beautiful, unique, far too short season of life. I know it because I’ve lived it. Happy National Daughters Day to my two best girls 👯🫶
