Just because summer humidity is behind us doesn't mean your crawl space is off the hook. šŸ‘€

Here in Delaware, every season brings its own set of challenges underneath your home. From summer humidity and spring flooding to winter heat loss and cold floors, your crawl space takes a beating year-round.

And while the problems may change with the seasons, the importance of keeping moisture, air leaks, and insulation issues under control doesn't.

That's why a properly designed crawl space encapsulation system is about more than fixing one problem. It's about creating a cleaner, drier, more energy-efficient environment that helps protect your home through every season.

šŸ‚ Fall is a great time to see what summer left behind and get your crawl space ready for the colder months ahead.

48.5% might not look alarming at first glance. But one wood moisture reading never tells the whole story. šŸ‘€

This came from an unencapsulated crawl space dealing with flooding, high humidity, and the kind of damp, dark conditions you definitely don’t want underneath your home.

When water is getting in, and moisture has nowhere to go, the solution isn’t simply adding a dehumidifier and calling it a day. You have to address the entire environment, including where the water is coming from, drainage, ground moisture, outside air, and humidity control.

That’s why Seaside looks at the whole crawl space before recommending a solution.
Because the goal isn’t just to dry it out today. It’s to keep it dry. šŸ’§šŸ

Summer grades are in...and your crawl space may have some explaining to do. šŸ‘€šŸ“‹

After months of Delaware heat, humidity, and heavy rain, your crawl space has been put to the test. So, how did it do?

Standing water, condensation, mold growth, falling insulation, and excess humidity are all signs it might not be bringing home an A+ this year.

The good news? A bad report card doesn’t mean it’s too late to turn things around.

Fall is a great time to see what summer left behind and address moisture, insulation, and efficiency issues before colder weather moves in.

Swipe through to grade your crawl space, then give Seaside a call if you think it might need a little extra credit. šŸ˜‰

Your crawl space might be losing the humidity battle before you ever notice it upstairs. šŸ‘€

Condensation, mold growth, and falling insulation aren’t just signs of an old or messy crawl space. They can be clues that excess moisture and humidity are taking over underneath your home. šŸ’§šŸ

And after a hot, humid Delaware summer, now is a pretty good time to see what’s been happening down there.

A properly designed encapsulation system helps control moisture at the source by addressing the entire crawl space, from drainage and air sealing to encapsulation and dehumidification.

See any of these signs under your home? Don’t wait for them to turn into bigger, more expensive problems. Give Seaside Crawl Space a call and let’s get that humidity under control. šŸ“±Call 302-305-3446

September might feel a little early to talk about cold floors... but winter has a habit of showing you exactly where your home is losing energy. 🄶

If your crawl space has poorly installed or failing insulation, open vents, excess moisture, or other air-sealing issues, you may notice the effects upstairs once temperatures drop, including colder floors and an HVAC system working harder to keep your home comfortable.

The good news? You don’t have to wait until your feet are freezing to do something about it.

Now is a great time to have your crawl space inspected and make improvements that can help your home stay more comfortable and energy efficient this winter.

And there’s another reason not to wait: qualifying Delaware homeowners can still save up to $4,250 on crawl space encapsulation, with up to $5,125 available for qualifying veterans and first responders. But time is running out. Rebates end September 30.

Prepare now. Your feet, your HVAC system, and your energy bill may thank you this winter. šŸ

ā€œClean, dry, and conditionedā€ sounds great... but what does conditioned actually mean? šŸ‘€

First, there’s an important difference between an encapsulated crawl space and a conditioned crawl space.

With a standard encapsulated crawl space, the space is sealed from ground moisture and outside air, and a properly sized dehumidifier is used to control humidity.

A conditioned crawl space takes things a step further. It’s also encapsulated, but conditioned air from your home’s HVAC system is intentionally introduced into the crawl space to help manage humidity. Depending on the home and system design, a dehumidifier may be used as well.

So, what’s the big difference?

Encapsulated = humidity is controlled with a dehumidifier.

Conditioned = the crawl space becomes part of the home’s conditioned environment, using HVAC-supplied air to help control humidity, sometimes alongside a dehumidifier.

Both start with properly addressing water, ground moisture, and outside air. The right approach depends on your home, your crawl space, and what’s happening underneath it.

That’s why at Seaside, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all crawl space solution. šŸ

A dehumidifier can do a lot. But it can’t work miracles. šŸ˜…

If your crawl space has standing water, open vents, exposed ground, or outside air constantly making its way in, a dehumidifier is fighting a battle it was never meant to handle alone.

Effective moisture control is an entire system. That can mean addressing drainage first, sealing off outside air and ground moisture, properly encapsulating the space, and then using a correctly sized dehumidifier to help maintain healthy humidity levels.

Think of the dehumidifier as one piece of the puzzle, not the whole solution.

At Seaside Crawl Space, we look at what’s actually causing the moisture problem and design the system around your home, so all the pieces work together to keep your crawl space clean, dry, and conditioned.
