These returning Action Builders clients came to us with a dated kitchen and a previously enclosed porch that had been incorporated into an awkward kitchen/breakfast area.

We tore off that old enclosed porch and rebuilt the space entirely, creating a new addition PLUS a screened-in porch designed especially for some very important members of the family: their cats. 😻

Inside, we combined the new addition with the existing kitchen to create a unique galley-style layout that feels updated while still staying true to the character of the home.

And when we say this kitchen is maximizing its footprint, we mean it.

We found room for a counter-to-ceiling pantry cabinet, full-size range, full-size dishwasher, generously sized sink, counter-depth refrigerator, peninsula, bookcase AND a custom wet bar tucked beside the refrigerator. The homeowners also had some fun with the backsplash design, giving the finished kitchen even more personality.

By shifting the entire kitchen back, we were able to tuck a new powder room beside the stairs. The goal was for it to feel like it had always belonged there… not like something that was added decades later.

We even took special care to preserve the original casework and ceiling details in the dining room throughout the renovation.

There truly wasn’t another inch we could have squeezed out of this space, and we LOVE how much function, character, and personality we were able to fit into it.

Sometimes, one wall is standing between you and a completely different home.

For this renovation, the existing kitchen had an awkward layout with multiple doorways breaking up the space and making it difficult to create a functional flow.

The solution? Remove the wall and open it up. 🙌

Once that wall came down, everything changed. We were able to completely rethink the kitchen layout, add a large island, create better flow between the spaces, and make the entire main living area feel bigger, brighter, and more connected.

But we didn’t stop with the kitchen.

This home also had an existing covered porch along the side of the house that we enclosed to create additional interior living space. The dining table was moved into the newly finished area, giving the homeowners even more room to spread out while allowing the renovated kitchen to really shine.

No massive addition. No completely reinventing the footprint. Just smart design decisions that made the existing home work SO much better.

Proof that you don’t always need an addition to make a BIG difference in the way your home looks and functions. 🙌

For this Mt. Lebanon kitchen renovation, we worked entirely within the home’s existing footprint… and made every inch count.

One of the biggest changes actually happened just outside the kitchen. By reframing the bedroom and hallway closet configuration, we were able to gain those few extra inches that made all the difference. That allowed us to fit both the refrigerator and a pantry cabinet in a much better location, improve the overall flow of the kitchen, AND make room for a peninsula with additional workspace and seating.

The homeowners chose a modern blue cabinetry that gives a subtle nod to the character and architecture of the home, while the crisp white keeps the entire space feeling bright, fresh, and updated.

What if you could move into your new home… and have the renovation already done? That’s exactly what these Sewickley homeowners planned for.

Before moving in, we completely reworked the main level, including an enlarged kitchen, rearranged kitchen and dining spaces, a new home office, and improved flow throughout the house. We also moved windows, adjusted a powder room entrance, and had our masonry team patch the exterior brick so seamlessly that you’d never know the changes were made.

Upstairs, both bathrooms were transformed. The primary bathroom was enlarged by reworking the existing bathroom and closet, while two new closets were added on the opposite side of the bedroom. The hall bathroom was completely removed and replaced.

The homeowners closed on the house in October, completed their renovation from February through May, and were ready to move in by May/June.

That kind of timeline takes a LOT of planning… but we made it happen!

Once you own the house and sign your construction contract, we use the preconstruction period to finalize the project, coordinate permits, and get everything ready so construction can move efficiently.
