🚪 Is your gate too narrow, sagging, or dragging every time you use it?
Denny and Bobbi called because their existing gate simply wasn’t wide enough for easy access. After removing the old gate, I installed a new post to create a generous 5’6” opening.
But a wide gate needs more than just extra space—it needs to be built properly. Otherwise, it can sag, drag, twist, and become frustrating to use.
To make sure this gate was built to last:
✅ The frame was assembled with strong lap joints
✅ Exterior wood glue and screws were used for added strength
✅ A diagonal brace was installed to transfer the weight back to the post
✅ A second brace was added for increased rigidity and stability
✅ Pickets were secured with galvanized ring-shank nails to the frame and braces, helping prevent twisting and sagging
The result is a solid, well-built gate designed to open smoothly, stay square, and stand up to years of use.
If your gate is too narrow, dragging, or starting to sag, give HandySmith a call. Let’s build a solution that works—and lasts.
