Think rug size doesn’t matter? Think again.

One of the biggest mistakes I see in living room design is choosing a rug that’s too small for the space.

The right size anchors your furniture, defines the seating area, and makes the entire room feel more balanced and intentional.

Same furniture. Same room. Completely different feel.

Sometimes the biggest design impact comes down to getting the proportions right.

Fun fact: A hairdryer makes removing price tags so much easier.

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at what goes into the final stages of an interior design project.

Unpacking, removing labels, styling shelves, and making all those little adjustments that bring a room together.

Not the most glamorous part of interior design, but it’s all in the details!

High-end style doesn’t always require a high-end price tag!

One of my favorite parts of an interior design project is bringing everything together with those final styling details.

For this client’s living room and family room redesign, I headed to HomeSense to find neutral, textured accessories for their cabinets and bookshelves.

Not every piece needs to be an investment. Sometimes a $20 find looks just as beautiful as a $600 vase. It’s all about knowing what to look for and how to style it.

At Curtis Rowe Interiors, I believe in mixing high and low to create beautiful, cohesive spaces that feel collected, not overly decorated.

Two distinct spaces, one cohesive design. ✨

📍 Harrison, NY

One large room, two different functions, and a design that works for the whole family.

The goal was to create two distinct areas: a comfortable family room for movie nights and everyday lounging, and a separate sitting area for conversation and entertaining, all while keeping the space kid-friendly.

We carried warm neutrals, natural wood tones, layered textures, and complementary furniture silhouettes throughout both spaces to create a cohesive look without making them feel identical.

Performance fabrics, comfortable seating, and a dedicated kids’ corner ensure the room is just as practical for everyday family life as it is beautiful.

Because a thoughtfully designed home should feel elevated without being too precious to actually live in.

A Little Color Goes a Long Way. 🌈

Who says timeless interiors have to be neutral?

From a playful rainbow mural to warm yellow accents, classic cream cabinetry, and a beautiful blue kitchen island, these spaces are proof that color can feel both sophisticated and fun.

The secret is knowing where to use it, how much to use, and when to let it shine.

It starts with a vision. Then we make it real.

From vision board questionnaire → mood board → renderings → coming soon.

This Harrison, NY family room was designed around how the family actually lives: one room, two distinct zones, and a space that needed to feel equally beautiful, comfortable and functional.

A relaxed TV area anchors one side, while four sculptural swivel chairs create a separate conversation space overlooking the backyard. Warm neutrals, natural wood, black accents and layered texture tie it all together without making either side feel overly designed.

This is always my favorite part of the process: taking the initial vision and turning it into a space you can actually see yourself living in.

Thoughtful design for the way you live.

Coming soon in Harrison, New York.
