“There are so many decisions that go into renovating a kitchen. Henrybuilt made it simple for me. I wouldn’t have known where to start otherwise,” says artist Joanne Freeman, the owner of this kitchen from Henrybuilt’s simplified Space Theory line.
Freeman’s work draws on forms found in architecture and design, using loose geometry, layered saturated colors, and a reductive approach that references modernist ideology. That same reductive sensibility shaped her kitchen. She wanted everything flush so it would read almost like a wall, with nothing jutting out.
In the loft, thoughtful details are already abundant: a stunning curved mahogany wall, gorgeous wood-trimmed windows, white brick, and a tin ceiling. “I didn’t need accents because the accents are already there,” Freeman says. “Aesthetically, the kitchen needed to disappear.”
