Could Your Furniture be Haunted?

I have reason to believe some of your favorite pre-loved goods are haunted. Vintage and antique furniture have lived a few lives before finding their way into yours. And just as we grow attached to our favorite reading chair, the sofa we’ve spent entire Sundays on, or the mirror that’s seen us through every questionable haircut, previous owners can develop a few attachments of their own.

While putting together some new lifestyle images for some current inventory, I was surprised to discover a few unexpected “models” appear in the final shots. Whether they’re former owners dropping by or simply admirers of the furniture, I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

Apparently, this 1970s Mastercraft Demilune Faux Tortoise Cabinet is to die for.

One Last Look 🧐

October has been one hell of a month of growth for House of No Era. As we wrap up the Victorian Vices campaign, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge all the new people who’ve found their way here and share a little about what drives the work. If you enjoy art, design, music, and thoughtfully sourced vintage, you’ve come to the right place. Welcome to House of No Era!

This is the final video from the Victorian Vices collaboration, and a glimpse of the art direction and visual storytelling I bring to No Era. My work goes beyond conventional content creation. It’s deliberately provocative, rebellious, and experimental. You should pour yourself a drink, grab a snack and take a cruise through my reels tab. 🍿👀🎞️

Because I don’t make art to perform for the algorithms, it’s taken much longer to grow my following. No Era’s not for everyone and I’m so glad you’re here!

A REBELLION IN OAK

Victorian furniture is often thought of as the product of skilled artisans working by hand. But by the late 19th century, industrialization had made mass-produced furniture widely available, and elaborate Victorian designs were increasingly being manufactured on a large scale.

The Arts & Crafts movement emerged partly in response. Its proponents pushed back against the excesses of industrial production, championing honest materials, visible craftsmanship, and furniture made with care rather than simply for volume.

That history is part of what makes early 20th-century oak furniture so compelling. These pieces reflect a different set of priorities: quality materials, thoughtful construction, and design intended to last.

And beautiful old wood cabinets like this one remind us what those values can look like in practice. They bring character and substance to a period interior, but they can be just as striking in a more contemporary space. The setting may change; good design endures.
