Central Texas weather keeps us guessing. We’ve gone from brutal heat and dry conditions to intense downpours, flash flooding, heavy winds and storms, sometimes seemingly overnight.

Excited to be rolling out this program. If you know someone in need please pass this along.

If you would like to donate to this program, the link is here https://gofund.me/2fd0aa307

This program will be integrated into the cities neighborhood tree program that we started with COSA. We will track each project so that these folks can be eligible for replanting as well.

This is round two in the pollarding process for these young Sycamore’s. It’s definitely a different type of pruning and looks a little like a disaster in the short term. These trees have responded really really well to the first round. Pretty excited about getting to nerd out on some trees and do something different.

This pruning technique is very old and goes back to very ancient practices of harvesting wood for Tool making basket making, firewood harvesting, all of the things that you would want sustainable growth and harvesting from a tree. Some of these techniques were used to train for trees and small spaces. Or to use trees, structurally as arbors and fences. There’s not much for this kind of work these days. But it’s super fun to see what happens.

Nature Play. By building playscapes from actual natural materials we get kids comfortable with the natural world and start a lifelong connection to the earth and our environment. Salvaging these historic logs allows us to keep waste out of landfills. These logs aren’t “waste” anyways, they’re bits of history, stored up in one giant log. How can you integrate natural elements into your playscape or yard?
