🎸 Sunday jam sessions just hit different when the room has this much soul.

Bold wallpaper, sleek glass doors, and a flexible space that goes from laid-back lounging to turning up the volume.

Forget ghosts, goblins, and things that go bump in the night. 👻

We asked our resident LivCo ghost to decorate the office for Halloween, and apparently it knows exactly what keeps designers and contractors up at night. 💀

Delayed materials? Terrifying. Cloth wiring? Nightmare fuel. And that’s just the beginning.

This built-in bar is hiding something…

Those structural columns supporting the new vaulted space? They’re cleverly concealed inside a custom bar that does a whole lot more than look good.

Designed to create a natural separation between the open floor plan and basement stairs, this hardworking built-in adds extra storage and a buffet-style serving area perfect for pizza parties and entertaining.

What started as an unavoidable structural necessity became an intentional design feature. And honestly, we love a good plot twist. 🍕

Are entrepreneurs born, made—or do they simply see opportunities that others miss?

This week on LivLive, we're welcoming back Nik Rokop for a second conversation about entrepreneurship, engineering, and the art of simplifying complex problems.

Nik is an engineer, entrepreneur, educator, and longtime mentor who has spent decades starting businesses, acquiring companies, and helping others turn ideas into reality.

In our first conversation, we explored what makes someone an entrepreneur. This time, we're digging deeper into how entrepreneurs actually think.

How has Nik's engineering background shaped his approach to business? What makes a complicated problem simple? And when it comes to starting or buying companies, is success the result of careful planning—or recognizing the right opportunity at the right time?

We'll explore the intersection of engineering and entrepreneurship, the balance between analysis and action, and what Nik has learned from a lifetime of building businesses and helping others do the same.

Join us for another great conversation about ideas, opportunities, problem-solving, and the entrepreneurial mindset.

We’re not afraid of a little contrast. 🖤

Sharp lines, striking veining, and a few unexpected patterns are giving this monochromatic moodboard some serious personality.

Apparently, building things is a Pollard family trait. 🏗️🏖️

While Dave is busy building homes, his brother Chuck is out here building architectural masterpieces… out of SAND. From the UVA Rotunda to Notre Dame and a pyramid that everyone assumes is easy (famous last words), Chuck takes sandcastles to a whole new level.

Turns out, the Pollards just can’t stop building things. 😂

Go check out Chuck’s incredible creations and give him a follow at ! 🏰

Good design can’t fix bad play calling. But it can make watching it a lot more comfortable. 🐻⬇️

Bears vs. Packers. The rivalry is legendary. Your game-day setup should be, too. We’re talking massive screens, plenty of seating, a custom bar, and an arcade to work out those halftime frustrations.

This LivCo finished basement has everything you need for game day. Well, except a guarantee the Bears will win.

Let’s get you game day ready. Link in comments.

💀 Well, this is going to be one hell of a home inspection someday.

Our clients have an absolutely killer sense of humor and decided to leave a little surprise inside their walls for the next homeowners. Complete with a skeleton, a bottle, and a whole lot of questions. 😂

We can only imagine the reaction when someone opens this wall 30 years from now.

These are the kinds of clients that make our job so much fun. We love a good remodel with a little personality and a healthy dose of Halloween mischief. 🎃

To the future homeowners: We swear it was like that when we got here. 👀

Dog-approved design? We consider that the highest compliment. 🐾

This thoughtfully designed kitchen addition brings some serious character to the home. From the soaring vaulted ceiling lined with reclaimed beams finished and shipped all the way from California, to the beautiful arched doorway and cleverly hidden storage, every detail has a purpose.

A little architectural magic, a whole lot of personality, and a handful of four-legged residents who seem pretty pleased with their new space. 🐶

Wednesday on LivLive, I'm going back to where a lot of my own entrepreneurial thinking began.

My guest is Nik Rokop, longtime entrepreneur, educator, mentor and one of the people who helped build the culture of entrepreneurship at Illinois Tech.

Interestingly, I never actually took one of Nik's classes.

But while I was studying architecture at IIT, I was introduced through other professors to this idea that being an architect — or an engineer, designer or technologist — didn't necessarily mean simply going to work for someone else and practicing your profession.

You could build something.

You could identify a problem, create value, start a company, take a risk and turn an idea into a business.

That idea stuck with me.

Nik has spent decades doing exactly that — first as an entrepreneur himself and then helping generations of students turn technical knowledge and creative ideas into real-world ventures.

So I want to talk about where entrepreneurs actually come from.

Can entrepreneurship be taught?

What's the difference between having a great idea and creating something people actually value?

Why do technically talented people sometimes struggle as entrepreneurs?

How do you teach someone to become comfortable with risk, uncertainty and failure?

And in a world where AI is dramatically lowering the barriers to creating new things, what does the next generation of entrepreneurship look like?

More than 25 years after my time at IIT, I think it'll be fascinating to reconnect some of those early ideas with the path my own career ultimately took.
