Your home can have movement. Your home should feel alive. Your home deserves to be joyful. It doesn’t always have to look like a showroom. My favorite projects are the ones where clients allow me to create those unexpected moments that make a huge impact and make a home feel like theirs. This one has been such a fun challenge. At its core, it’s fairly traditional, which I love, but it also has tons of beautiful wood, some more modern elements, and really, several different styles throughout. Finding a way to blend all of those things while keeping it cohesive, intentional, and still feeling like a home has been such an interesting process. I think that’s what I’ve loved most about this project. We didn’t try to force the house into one specific style. We let it have layers. We let it have personality. We created spaces that feel unexpected, but somehow completely at home here. Some of the moments we’ve created in this home just make me so happy.

This space is such a good example of what can happen when you trust your designer. We had already made our selections when, while picking up materials, I had one of those moments where an entirely different idea hit me. I texted my client and basically said, “Hear me out. I know we picked X, Y, Z… but I have a vision. Just trust me.”

And because she has been incredible throughout this entire process, her response was basically, “I trust you. Go for it.” I am SO glad she did. I don’t think I’ve ever loved a kids’ space more. It’s playful and unexpected, but still feels elevated and beautiful. Paired with a dark walnut-stained vanity and marble floors, it might be one of my favorite spaces in the entire house. Some of my favorite work has come from clients who give me the freedom to be creative, think outside the box, and push the boundaries just a little bit. I’m so grateful for the clients who trust the process, and trust me enough to let me run with those crazy little ideas when they hit.

The sweetest space. It feels elevated and beautiful, while still being incredibly cozy and homey, which is exactly what I wanted. I’m so glad we made the decision to embrace some of the elements that were original to the home, like the beams, rather than removing them. Those details give the space so much warmth and character and make it feel like it’s always belonged here. One of my favorite parts of this project was designing the space just beyond the kitchen. While it may look like a dining area, it’s actually this family’s homeschool space. Creating something that flowed seamlessly with the kitchen aesthetically, while still being ultra-functional for everyday learning, storage, and family life, was such a fun challenge. I think it turned out so beautifully. It’s warm, intentional, functional, and quite possibly one of the coziest spaces in the world.

We’re almost there. Just wanted to share a few happy snippets from our Friendship Drive project. This whole home remodel has been at the forefront of my mind for nearly a year, and seeing everything finally come together feels so incredibly rewarding. So much time, love, effort, energy, and intention have gone into planning every detail of this home. These bathrooms are an absolute dream, and the kitchen might just be my favorite thing ever.

One of my favorite parts of this project has been preserving so many of the unique and interesting elements that were already here. Instead of ripping out everything old and replacing it with something new, we made the conscious decision to incorporate those pieces into the overall design and let them help tell the story of the home. I truly believe those are the details that set a home apart. They keep it from feeling cookie cutter and instead make it feel collected, intentional, unique, and completely yours.

We still have a little ways to go, but watching a plan that has lived in my head for so long finally come to fruition is the best feeling. Once everything is completely finished, I’ll definitely be sharing the full reveal. I cannot wait!

Just some happy little updates at Friendship Drive. I am OBSESSED with this powder room. The blue walls, the tile, a dark-stained vanity coming, and burgundy sconces to finish it off. And who doesn’t love a wallpapered ceiling moment in a kid’s bedroom?! This house is getting so good. I cannot wait to show you guys the finished spaces.
