First time Fridays!

Today we have Rattlesnake Master! This native prairie plant is drought resistant but can handle rainy conditions too. It’s unique flower shape and coarse leaves mean that deer and rabbits leave it alone. A member of the parsley and carrot family these showy plants are native to the tall grass prairie that once dominated Iowa’s landscape. We will have these and several other new native plants next year!

Happy Tomato 🍅 Tuesday!

Today we have the Indian Stipe! Originally found in Arkansas this Cherokee Purple like tomato is more productive and slightly lighter than its more well know cousin. These fruits are named for green stripes that fade as they ripen to a rich burgundy color.

Hours update!

As we get later into fall we are adjusting our hours, starting this week Monday-Wednesday we will be open 10-6 but some evening hours will be an honesty stand. We will have a couple of payment options for when we aren’t here! Thursday and Friday we will be here 10-6 and weekends 10-4. If we aren’t in retail we are likely working on some projects or even planting for next year so just give us a call and we will come down to help answer any questions you have!

It’s Sunday funday!

Which means it’s time for brunch and what better way to celebrate than with some orange juice made from oranges you grew! These blood oranges and minneola tangelos have fruits that are growing and will be ready soon. These do need to be brought in each winter but will continue to give you delicious fresh citrus fruits for years to come! And if you need any more convincing they are on sale right now 50% off!

Unfortunately due to a funeral we will not be there today but with this beautiful weather we wanted a way for people to still come out. So we do have Venmo available if you have any questions please shoot us a message and we will do our best to answer it!
