Same windows. Same trim. Same floors. Entirely different room.

Those arched windows were always the best thing in here, but the raspberry walls kept competing with them for attention. A soft, warm neutral lets the architecture lead, and now the light actually has somewhere to land.

The bigger shift is that the room finally has a job. It went from a pretty spot you pass through to a desk you’d actually want to sit at. A sawhorse table keeps the footprint light enough that the windows still win.

The price tag is only one number on the receipt.

There’s also the evening spent comparing seventeen nearly identical listings, the sofa that’s two inches too deep for the doorway, and the β€œwarm white” that arrives looking distinctly beige. None of that shows up at checkout, but all of it costs you something.

Curious how sourcing works when we do it together? Book a discovery call through the link. https://www.punctuateyourstyle.com/contact

Every renovation is really just a long series of small decisions. Keep the arches or lose them? Paint the beams or leave them alone? Which tile, which finish, which white (there are always too many whites)?

When it’s done right, you stop noticing the decisions and just notice how good it feels to walk in the door.

This Tuscan-era home went from heavy and dated to light and livable, and every one of those choices earned its place.

If you’ve been putting off your own list of decisions, let’s make them together. https://www.punctuateyourstyle.com/contact

Some girls collect handbags.

I collect antiques that tell a story the moment you walk in the room.

There is something about a piece that has lived a whole life before it ever arrives in your home. The patina that cannot be faked. The weight of it. The detail that only exists because someone took the time to do it right when taking the time was still the standard.

I find these pieces and I cannot leave them behind. At a market, at an estate sale, at a shop I was not planning to stop at but absolutely had to. They end up in the shop, in client projects, in rooms that needed exactly that one thing to finally feel complete.

That is the difference between a room that looks designed and a room that feels lived in. The piece with a story is always the one that makes it.

Come find yours. πŸ‚

I walk into a lot of rooms. And within about sixty seconds I can usually tell you exactly why one is not working.

It is almost never what the homeowner thinks it is.

They think it is the furniture. Or the paint color. Or the fact that they have not found the right rug yet. And sometimes those things are part of it, but they are rarely the root.

The root is almost always one of five things. Scale. Light. Color temperature. Visual weight. Flow.

Swipe through and see if you recognize your room in any of them. Most people find at least one that stops them.

And if you do, that is what I am here for.

I already know the first question you are going to ask me.

How quickly can we get started?

And I love that question because it tells me you are ready. You are done living with the room that isn't working. You are done putting it off. You are ready to do this.

Here is what I need you to know about how we start.

The beginning of my process is intentionally slow. There is a discovery call where I ask you questions most designers never think to ask. There is a design concept phase where we make every major decision on paper before a single contractor picks up a tool. There is a planning process that looks quiet from the outside and is actually doing the heaviest lifting of the entire project.

I know it can feel like nothing is happening yet. I promise you something is happening.

Every decision we make together at the front end is one less change order, one less delay, one less moment where you are standing in the middle of your kitchen wondering how it went sideways. The clients who trust the process are the ones who send me photos of their finished spaces and say it was the smoothest thing they have ever done.

The time we spend at the beginning saves you ten times that on the back end.

Trust the process. Come along for the journey. 🀍

Every fireplace wall needs three things. This one has all of them.

An antique. A focal point. And one nod to something current, used with restraint.

The surround is from the 1800s. I found it and knew immediately it was going somewhere in my home. There is a weight and a detail to something that old that no reproduction ever fully captures. It commands the room without trying to.

The fireplace itself is the focal point- which sounds obvious until you see how many rooms bury theirs behind a television, a gallery wall, or furniture that fights it for attention. A fireplace should be the first thing your eye goes to. Everything else should support it.

And the shiplap. I know, I know- shiplap is everywhere. But there is a reason it keeps showing up and that reason is texture. Used quietly, as a backdrop rather than the main event, it adds dimension without announcing itself. The key word is quietly.

One antique. One focal point. One trend used with intention.

That is the formula. Every time.

Same bones. Completely different soul.

This is what happens when a room stops being managed and starts being designed.

The before had good architecture- soaring ceilings, great light, real bones. But nothing was talking to each other. The furniture was heavy and pulling toward the floor. The walls were fighting the warmth in the room instead of lifting it. The space had potential it had never been given permission to reach.

The after lets the room breathe. The stone fireplace gets to be the centerpiece it was always meant to be. The color on the walls works with the light instead of against it. The furniture is scaled for the space, not just placed in it. The coastal accents feel collected rather than themed. And that chandelier, finally a fixture worthy of those ceilings.

This is what full-service design does. It takes what is already there and makes it make sense.

Every home has good bones. Not every home has found them yet.

I have certifications in color, staging, and e-design. Here is what that actually means when you hire me.

The color certification means I am not guessing. Color theory, undertones, how light changes a color throughout the day, how adjacent colors affect each other- I understand the science behind why a paint color that looked perfect on the chip looks completely wrong on your wall. That knowledge protects you from expensive mistakes.

The staging certification means I know how to make a space read. How furniture placement affects how a room feels. How to create flow. How to edit. Most people think staging is just for selling a house, it is actually one of the most useful skills in everyday design because it teaches you to see a room the way a stranger sees it.

The e-design certification means I can serve clients wherever they are. Not everyone needs someone in their home every week. Some projects are better suited to a collaborative digital process- and I can deliver a full, professional design experience that way.

Three certifications. Three different ways I show up better for your project.

If you are ready to work with someone who brings all of it to the table, I would love to hear about your home. Link below to book a discovery call. 🀍
