Busy day today! In between harvesting for an order and weeding the native bed, I started my ranunculus and anemone corms and began soaking the sweet pea seeds.

The trays of ranunculus and anemones went outside to bask in the cool night air and tomorrow will plant the seeds in trays. Once everything sprouts, they will be planted out in the field. If all goes well, we will have some early beautiful spring blooms and amazing sweet smelling sweet peas late spring 🌸

I love special orders. They allow me to slow down and really enjoy the process of pairing flowers and making a beautiful bouquet 💐 This bouquet, along with two others, were picked up tonight for a baby shower 💕

The zinnias are from a mix from Baskets of Flowers Farm and these actual blooms were propagated from the original plant when I stripped the leaves. I’m glad I did that as my zinnia patch is in sad shape from disease and this provided new plants to give me fresh blooms later in the season.

The heirloom mums were also propagated from cuttings, and my heirloom patch is getting ready to start putting on a show so make sure to follow along over the next couple of weeks!

506 plugs planted in 2 days! With a bum knee that I’m icing right now 🧊

In between we harvested some mushrooms (hens in the woods and chicken in the woods) and harvested some dahlias 😍

Excited to see the heirloom mums start blooming 🌺

Next up: planting sweet peas and starting the ranunculus and anemone corms. And….checking Farmer Bailey’s ready to ship sale to hopefully get some snapdragons since my seed starting is less than stellar this year.

3rd fall bean harvest!

I sowed a few beans the end of July and it was successful. Will be saving seeds of these pole varieties as they were so good! The purple ones are “Blauhilde” -tender and stringless with good flavor. The green one was Cherokee Trail of Tears and is best eaten when young. Both are heirlooms so saving seeds is a great way to have seeds for the next year!

Lunch included the beans and some squash that we grew, and check out the heart shaped potato that we also grew!

I’m late getting my fall greens in the ground. Need to get on that asap. Beets will now need to wait until very early spring

Working on getting the fall planted cut flower plugs in the ground-stay tuned for what we are planting!

What are you growing this fall?
