🍂🐛 What’s the Woolly Worm Saying About This Winter? ❄️

For generations, folks across Appalachia have looked to the woolly worm for a little old-fashioned insight into the winter ahead. According to tradition, more orange or rust coloring means milder weather, while more black is said to signal a harsher winter. Even where those colors appear is believed to represent the beginning, middle, or end of winter.

Is it science? No — but it’s a fun Appalachian tradition that’s been passed down for generations!

So keep an eye out for woolly worms this fall and let us know what you’re seeing. 👀🐛

Are they showing us a mild winter… or should we get ready for a rough one? ❄️🌨️

Dehumidifiers and sump pumps have been popular this week with the flooding, but luckily we still have one left, and sump pumps are being restocked this week as well.

We hope everyone is safe and getting things put back together quickly!
