AURA Candle Bar AURA is more than just a candle making class, it's a fragrance experience. This is where the magic begins! Whatever is more convenient for you.

We are a destination for anyone looking to escape from the ordinary, let your creativity soar, and make meaningful memories that last well past the final burn of the candle. During your visit, our scent consultants will guide you through an olfactory journey of over 100 scents while you jot down your favorites to sift through later. Once you’ve chosen the candle jar or home fragrance product you would like to make, we will help you narrow your list down to a few fragrance choices that will blend well together. We will bring you your fragrance oils of choice so you can mix them in the perfect proportion to your liking before blending them into your candle, diffuser or wax melts. While your candle or wax melts cool, we highly recommend you explore the Southport Corridor neighborhood. Have dinner or drinks at one of the numerous restaurants or bars around our studio. Pick up your candle after you finish dinner or on another day! AURA is more than just a place to make candles. Note, although reservations are recommended, walk-ins are welcomed if we are not at full capacity! We can’t wait to pour with you!

We partnered with House 15 | Chicago Vintage & Home Decor to create a custom fragrance inspired by their buying trips to Europe. From the fragrance itself to the finished candle, every detail reflects the spirit of their brand.

Every brand has a story to tell, and fragrance is one way to bring it to life. We love working with businesses to translate what makes them unique into a scent that feels distinctly their own.

Next in our fall fragrance series: Cranberry. ❤️

Fruity, bright and spicy.

Cranberry starts with a bright, citrusy orange facet that brings a little sharpness to its tart fruitiness. Then come the familiar spices of clove, cinnamon and nutmeg—notes that feel unmistakably connected to fall in the Midwest.

The bright, fruity character of cranberry gradually gives way to warmth and spice, making it especially at home around the Thanksgiving table.

Welcome to Fragrance Book Club 📚 First up: The Atlas of Perfumed Botany by Jean-Claude Ellena, brought to you by our Scent Consultant, Alex!

This book is a great resource exploring how fragrance is derived from natural materials and pairing beautiful botanical illustrations with historical context and language about each fragrance.

Ellena, former perfumer for Hermès and the nose behind countless iconic fragrances, has a way of describing scent that makes something abstract feel almost tangible.

One of our favorite passages is about bergamot—a popular fragrance to blend with at AURA: “Some loves are passing, but there is also solid and enduring love. My fondness for bergamot is a case in point.”

We couldn’t agree more. 🍋‍🟩

Shop candles to raise money for local animal organizations 🐾

Starting Saturday August 22, we’re bringing back the candle adoption event—our anniversary tradition of giving handcrafted candles a second chance, all while giving back to our local community.

Throughout the year, we save every candle made in the studio that doesn’t get picked up. Visit our studio to find one to take home with you. 100% of the proceeds benefit two of our favorite local organizations, PAWS Chicago and Paws for a Cause Vet Care (Formerly Spay Illinois).

It all started with an experience our family shared. Then came an idea, a move, a pandemic, thousands of guests, countless celebrations, and a whole lot of learning along the way.

Over the last six years, we’ve poured 123,075 candles, used 1.2 million ounces of wax, burned through nearly 17 miles of wick, and welcomed more than 100,000 unique guests to the bar.
But the numbers only tell part of the story.
